“Great for people watching....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2013

Had a lovely day shopping in Cardiff and stopped off here for a quiet drink. Went to the bar twice and was served by different people - both Eastern European - both appeared happy and efficient at doing their jobs. Found a lovely window seat and did some people watching for a while. Unfortunately it is in the shadow of other buildings when the sun shines so people don't sit outside for too long, but that aside we found it a welcoming and clean place to stop off. I understand it is a good venue to see live bands, although that would have been a bit too late for us on this occasion.

“Staff not interested. Daughter hutt her leg on broken furniture they didnt care”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

I visited this pub for some lunch with my children my daughter sat on a sest and it gave way and she hurt her leg. I told staff and they didn't care a toss. I asked then if they checked the chair and they just said yeah and shrugged shoulders. Waited ages for food small portions and had to ask for dessert. Dirty cutlery dont bother.

“Poor quality food, dirty, and lazy staff”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2013

Went for a bite to eat in the evening hoping for some good quality pub food but the food took ages to arrive despite the place being empty. The staff, one girl in particular, was lazy and reluctant to help or do any work and the food was a disappointment when arrived. Even for a cheap bite it was overpriced. On top of everything the majority of tables were dirty with plates and empty glasses, despite the numerous bored staff standing around doing nothing!

“Depends what's going on there!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2013

We've had some great nights out at O'Neills, although we were a little disappointed on our two most recent visits. One of the main reasons we wanted to go back there was because there was a particular band playing - Smoking Aces. We checked on-line and they were billed as being due to play, but when we turned up there was no sign of them and just a fella singing solo. He wasn't bad, bless him, but he wasn't what we'd gone there for. We were told that the band we wanted to see would be back there on the following evening, so we returned only to find that wasn't the case. Classic example of how customer expectation affects the experience - if you're going to advertise acts to draw people in, get the information right because whatever they get in it's place it won't be what they came for and they'll be disappointed. If you're out for the evening in Cardiff, it's definitely worth popping your head in to see what the vibe is like - just don't bank on it and have a back-up!
