“Good Hotel”

I stayed here for a night for a job interview. Really nice room, good air conditioning, and a comfortable sleep. One downside was trying to figure out how the shower worked, and not finding out. Disappointing!

I Have personally stayed in over 20 different Travelodge Hotels and can safely say this is the worse nights sleep I have ever had at a Travelodge.

I have stayed in city centre locations before but have never experience the volume of noise through the walls and floors that I experienced at Cardiff Central Travelodge, there is a major sound proofing issue at this hotel. Stayed in room 210 and the noise coming from pub / nightclub next door was unbearable through until 4am in the morning.

Will not stay at this particuar travelodge again and would not recommend anyone else to do so!

Overall, we had a good stay! The room was massive and the bed very comfortable (although no plug anywhere near the bed). TV perfect and tea and coffee facilities good, but for price we paid could have had more even though a budget hotel it was still expensive. Noise level didn't bother us as we were out till 1ish and they do warn you when booking so it was no surprise. Think the comfy bed helped. However, the bathroom was horrible, you couldn't have missed the dirt all over the sink cabinets. Could have been wiped off in 10seconds but clearly had been left! Also, my boyfriend left his jacket with his keys in at the hotel. They rang straight away but we were home (2 hours away in somerset). Sent them a prepaid package for them to send the jacket in but they never did. We rang them a few times and had no answers, there seemed to be lack of communication between day and night staff. Still awaiting jacket (angry if they have given it away)! Can't remember room number so may be no hope of getting it back.

Booked here for Madness Concert on 5/dec and was worried it might be noisy but had two great nights sleep. Great location with breakfast just round the corner for less than £4.00 and Caroline Street just up the road.

Room Tip: We had room 109 and worried about the bar below but noise was just background

We stayed on a Monday for one night as we were seeing a band at the Motorpoint Arena. The location is great for the city. Cardiff Central railway and bus station is around the corner. The Millennium stadium is within walking distance as is the Motorpoint Arena so you won't have to worry about having to use Taxis unless you need to go somewhere like Cardiff Bay (the bus stop is nearby).

We had a family room which had one very large bed and 2 fairly thin single beds on either side. The main bed was very comfortable, whilst the other two were a bit hard. I slept on the single bed and didn't find it too bad other than waking up hanging precariously on the edge of bed a few times!

The bath was clean and the shower excellent. They might want to invest in a new ironing board though as the one that was left on our floor looked like it had seen better days.

My only major concern is the amount of noise one can hear outside. The windows seem old and ineffective at keeping the noise out. We stayed on a Monday night and you could still hear a lot of noise, including a road cleaner that sounded like a boat, sharing conversations with people at 4am and a general sound of buses etc. I can usually get back to sleep so it didn't effect me so much but if you're a light sleeper a view onto the street might not be a good idea. I've no idea what the sound is like on the back.

The check-in and out were very good and quick. I didn't even need to show a confirmation number and they allowed me into the room before 3pm without even having to ask.

Didn't use a car so can't comment on the parking side of things. Nor did I use the cafe bit. I wouldn't think youd need to book breakfast there as there are lots of alternative and better value options out there. The hotel is sandwiched between two Wetherspoons (the Great Western and the Prince of Wales I think), and there's a nice place called Brewhouse that does an excellent Vegetarian breakfast.

Husband and I booked to stay here due to procsimity to millennium stadium.
We had read the reviews re the club below and rang ahead for a 'quiet' room. We had a top floor room that was great as away from street noise but unfortunately it is stag and hen heaven!!!!
The room was clean and the bed was really comfortable but I did not get to sleep until 4am due to the stags and hens running in corridors and banging on room doors.
I should add that my husband slept through the whole thing so he has no complaint at all.
I did not see the point in making a fuss re the noose as it was our choice to stay in party central, and Travelodge cannot be blamed for that. Maybe it should state on booking that this is a hotel that is utilised by party goers to allow people the choice to go elsewhere, a family would have really suffered with small children.
I am a fan of Travelodge and stay often in there hotels but you need to be aware it is a budget hotel that will be used by stag and hens in city centres.
Do your homework and you will not have a problem.
I would also like to add that the staff were welcoming and helpful.

Room Tip: Upstairs end of corridor
