We had booked this hotel for a two night stay over Easter. I had booked directly with the hotel over the phone and the staff were great. I got a written confirmation confirming the booking and guarunteeing the room types (one double, one twin, interconnecting). As we walked into the hotel and approached reception, the receptionist turned away and began sorting a pile of receipts, making us wait for a few minutes. As I tried to check in it became clear that the hotel had lost our booking. They only agreed that they were at fault when I produced the written confirmation. Then they were unable to provide the interconnecting rooms promised, which was a pain as the party consisted of my wife and two youngish kids who the hotel policy says cannot be in a room on their own.

The rooms we got had been refurbished recently. They were clean and warm. One was very small but all had good cupboards/storage. The beds were extremely comfortable. The bathrooms were tiny but the shower was very good.

The hotel breakfast was very pleasant. The choice was not as large as some places but the food was good and we thought it was not bad value. The bar was large and pleasant and the sandwiches we had there were fine and the bread was fresh.

The Premier Inn does a fair job, but if I stay at one of these hotels again, I will be anxious about the booking process. They were wholly unable to explain how they messed up so badly and we never got any apology, which is unacceptable.

This was an awful hotel, if it can even be called a hotel. When we checked it, in looked perfectly fine then we got to our room and the smell was disgusting. We had to leave straight away because the standard was so poor and it was like one of those trashy motels that they show on American tv. Stay away! You pay for what you get.

Its £56 a night, £7.50 for an all you can eat breakfast and kids under 16 eat free! Good night's sleep guarantee too.

Excellent budget hotel accommodation, bedroom was too hot so they refunded our money, what more can you ask?

Staff very friendly and breakfast staff exceptional.

Bedrooms clean and good quality furniture.

Can't fault it for what it is.

Stayed here twice last year for leisure, which was the first time since Premier Travel Inn took over the hotel (as it was previously a Holiday Inn and before that Posthouse and it was good then but needed some work on it.

I have to say the hotel has improved since the change as PTI has upgraded the hotel, the bedrooms are much more modern now with new furnishings, and they were very clean. They also seem to have new beds since when we stayed as it was a holiday inn. They dont have room service anymore, but most other facilities remain as with other PTIs(ensuite bathroom, shower gel, towels, comfy bed, satellite TV, hairdryer, tea and coffee maker etc).

The restaurant still has the same sort of food but it was a barest now but it has quite good food and a bar and lounge.

The health club now though is not free for guests and I think it was about £5 but there is a gym, swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna in the changing rooms etc which was nice.

The staff I met were all generally pleasant, friendly and efficient aswell.

It was very clean and since the bedroom refurbishments it seems to have vastly improved and also very much improved since the previous reviews which I am guessing were written when the hotel was a Holiday Inn/before it was refurbed. I would recommend.
