“"Very Good"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2012

Stayed at this hotel with my family in September 2012. The staff were very good and helpful, had a good sleep. The beds are comfy. Car park was free which really helped. l will stay there again and recommend to my friends.
The rooms were clean.
The noise level was minimum despite it being near the motorway.
The good thing about this hotel was that it was not too far from Cardiff City Centre.

We booked this hotel because it was the cheapest I could find that was quite near to Cardiff Uni, I was really impressed, friendly staff, nice room and a good nights sleep. I had read reviews saying it was nosey because its near the main road but I'm a light sleeper and I had a good nights sleep. We didn't eat at the hotel at all so I can't comment on the food but the room was great and would definitely recommend it.

stayed here for one night on 15th sep 2012 free car parking lovely check in receptionst very helpfull. rooms were spotless. there is a bus stop just outsie the hotel so we were able to catch a bus into the city for the day as the taxi are quiet expensive due to the location of the hotel. the recepionist called a taxi for us for a night out. great night sleep. the restuarant was cleen and tidy and there were plenty of empty tables breakfast was help your self buffet and it was lovely and hot. definently stay here again if coming to cardiff no complaints

Yet another standard PI; reception was slow on arrival. Only one person on duty and there was a queue building up behind me, and I was waiting for a family to get sorted and they weren't even booking in. Room adequate for what you get, mine was clean and tidy. Beware at the buffet breakfast the staff are like high speed trains in clearing your table, I went to get some toast and got back to find my pot of tea had gone, that's the danger of travelling alone.

I know Premier inns are suppossed to be all the same, basic but comfortable and clean, but there are good ones and bad ones.
This hotel seems to cater mainly for business travellers, and I guess because of this it was a bit souless and I felt standards were low as expectationsof its usual guests tend to be low,
The building used to belong to another hotel chain ,which had a pool, but as PI's do not have pools it has been closed and basically left to decay which is a shame. The building is a typical early 70's high rise with a carpark that looks lke a thieves paradise surrounded by high bushes and trees, unless lucky enought ot get a space near the door , it would be a bit scary for lone female guests I think.
The room was small and lacked any charm what so ever and I didnt think it was very clean. The fancy throw on the bed was liberally stained with ever knows what (cant bear to think) , and the chair likewise.
The bed was clean and faiarly comfy, but the bathroom although looked surface clean was not. I ran a bath and was fairly squemish about getting in as it had that horrible rubbery surface applied to the bottom that always looks grubby, and once the water was in you could seee a well defined tidemark about 4 inches deep all around, (tidemarks on baths always show once the water is in!) so this had obviously not been cleaned properly and is totally gross, and unacceptable in any priced room.
There are always plus points with a hotel like this, namely price and convenient locations, but for just a little more we could have stayed somewhere much better.
The dining options are always a bargain, with a special at dinner, pick of most of the menu with a drink that also gave you a complimentary ticket for breakfast which made a very good deal indeed and was of an acceptable quality. The staff were very friendly and helpful both in the evening and at breakfast.
I guess its horses for courses, and if you just want a bed , no frills or charm, or in our case even a smile at reception then this will proibaly fit the bill, but I wouldnt be in a jurry to stay again.

May have been busy but they seemed overstretched especially at breakfast where we had pretty poor service. Room and location are good however - no noise in the room and good temperature. You are pretty close to a good road for easy access to Cardiff so well located for us. The room size is plenty to fit in another single for our daughter and the facilities were ok. No TV remote and took a couple of asks to get one - soap dispenser was broken and they did not replenish the loo roll when they cleaned the room so had to ask again.
