“Great for the Bay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

My husband and I stayed on Boxing Day night. Great service, lovely and clean, quiet considering it's so close to Cardiff bay and a really cheap alternative to the hotels there only a short taxi ride away, we walked to the city centre to shop in 15 minutes.

We got a room here for just £19 - that was an excellent bargain.
Receptionist was friendly and helpful, but didn't offer to reserve a table in the restaurant for us.
Room was fantastic - comfortable bed, and fantastic TV (must be a 40 incher). Though there were a couple of plug-in heaters in the room which were very tired. It was difficult to maintain the room at the right temperature.
Receptionist on night duty was very helpful and obliging when we called upon for extra help - full marks there.
Overall, this was excellent - would certainly recommend!

My husband and I stayed overnight here as we had an early morning appointment in Cardiff the next day. The hotel was not sign-posted particularly well but we did find it after going past it once. Car park was decent and thankfully free for hotel guests. Staff were friendly and courteous. The room was a fair bit of a walk and the floor boards along the corridors were alarmingly creaky and weak but overall the hotel was of a solid build. Our room was really nice, well appointed with a lovely big flat screen tv mounted on the wall. One half of the bathroom lights did not work nor did the extraction fan which was bothersome after a shower but as we were just there for one night we did not trouble the staff about it. The bed was particularly lumpy and there was a small amount of road traffic noise that could be heard but nothing too disturbing. The pillows were on the weak side and became pancake thin when you rested your head on it (despite looking lovely and fluffy). We did choose to dine at the 'adjoining' restaurant. Dinner was okay but nothing special as you were limited to the 'set' dinner special menu if you got the meal deal. Breakfast was really good. Staff were very friendly. An overall good stay.

I stayed here a few years ago and while there were no faults with the hotel itself, there was problem after problem with my booking and the service that I received resulting in me avoiding Premier Inn for some time. Having had a good stay at another Premier Inn this year and booking while Premier Inn had special offers I decided to give this particular hotel another go and I really couldn't fault it.

The hotel was clean, the room large and spotlessly clean throughout and quiet (apart from one particularly noisy group that arrived back late at night!). The service was efficient, although not overly friendly.

The Brewers Fayre breakfast was your typical breakfast buffet, nothing to get excited about but not too bad for a hotel breakfast.

It's well located for the city centre and Cardiff Bay and I would stay here again on another visit to Cardiff.

The hotel itself is typically Premier Inn. Comfortable , clean and with friendly staff. I am now a total convert to this chain and use them often.

The 'Brewers Fayre' , next door, (20 yds away!) which the hotel uses as its bar and restaurant is clean and the staff friendly there too. The breakfast seemed as good as in other Premier Inns and it was typically chips and fried stuff for the evening meal. (I am not a fan of Brewers Fayre !). However its the only restaurant within a considerable distance as far as we could ascertain.

The 'B.F' also serves as the 'public house' in the local area and as a consequence the Friday night was very busy. A group of local men on the Saturday night provided some colourful language but they had gone by 8.00pm.

I didnt see any evidence of the 'red light' elements mentioned elsewhere.

Its a 20 minute walk into town and although not 'pretty scenery , was very handy. You can walk to the bay, which we did. Its about 25-30 mins.

This hotel is very convenient because you can park and leave your car for the duration of your stay.

Incidently, Cardiff is a wonderful shopping town and is also full of cultural experiences. I will be going back!

A good description for what I like. I like Premier Inns because you know the quality, layout and standard to accept. This was exactly what you want.

Interesting to be in a hotel in the red light district, so taxis are a must!
