The room accommodation was spacious and most importantly very clean with a comfortable bed and pillows.
The staff were not over friendly but equally they were polite and did arrange a taxi into the City for us. It only cost £4.50 on the way out and £5.50 for our return (we felt for a busy Saturday Wales V New Zealand night this was reasonable).
The hotel was a bit pricey - probably due to the match event. One of the attractions was the free car parking as we knew we did not want to drive into the City on a match night. We felt the corridors were a bit cold but our room was lovely and warm once we received some assistance from the receptionist who kindly came up to our room to show us how the thermostat worked.
The only disappointment was the restaurant - we would say avoid it like the plague! We did not receive a warm welcome (first impressions are important) and all of the dining room tables were sticky and dirty. Finally a waitress wiped our table with a dirty cloth and with no cleaning agent,She then placed the paper table mats, cutlery and napkin onto the wet (still dirty and sticky) table. She was totally oblivious to what she was doing! After she left, we cleared the table fully and we used our Carex wipes to wipe the table and used fresh napkins to dry off the table. The wipes and napkins were very dirty and my husband showed them to one of the bar staff who apologised and asked us if we wished to move us to another table. We declined, as we didn't want to have to clean another table (all tables were in the same state!). It wasn't a good start but we persevered and ordered Bangers and Mash, we specifically asked for our sausages to be well cooked when placing the order. Our meal arrived swiftly, however the sausages were cooked on the outside but under done on the inside, the mash potato was one solid lump ,the peas were like bullets and of extremely poor quality. We subsequently took the meals back and obtained a refund for the food but payed for our two diet cokes. There was little concern and a cursory apology (we asked ourselves whether this had happened before!). On the bright side it did make us venture into the City after the game for a meal at a lovely little Italian restaurant :-)
