We arrived and before even stepping into the hotel we were annoyed from trying to find the car park. We knew it was off site from the website and followed the given postcode which took us (as we eventually found out) at least 400m away. There were no obvious signs of any car parks let alone the one which we were to use. I even rang reception and she said if you follow the postcode to Wood Street, you'll find an NCP car park. Happy that we now knew what kind of car park we were looking for, we looped back around again. Nothing. Turns out the car park is actually pretty close to the hotel, however it is certainly not on Wood Street as stated on the website and told by the receptionist, but just behind it, hence why we couldn't see it from the car. It is not the sort of car park I would normally be happy leaving my car, however I had little choice.
We queued in reception behind two separate people who were complaining about various aspects of their room, such as no tea/coffee facilities or their telephone not working. The receptionist was very abrupt when dealing with us which did not leave us with the greatest opinion at the start of our stay. Only one lift was working and the large amount of traffic going up and down meant that there was always a wait involved. We often ended up walking up the stairs instead, which was not pleasant after a day on my feet.
Our room looked modern but small, although we were immediately disappointed to find a view of the train station, with the already loud sound of the trains very noticeable, despite being on the 7th floor. Some sounded like a plane landing! When booking the room, I was offered an upgrade to a queen size bed for an extra £30 which sounded daft at the time. In hindsight I should have taken it as the bed was tiny! My husband is 6ft2in and his feet hung off the end of the bed by a good way. The bathroom was a disappointment; small and basic, with a ridiculously small sink. There were no toiletries, just a single cream wash above the sink for washing your hands. The room was very warm overnight despite having the air on on. The restaurant was sweltering during breakfast and this made it really uncomfortable to sit for long.
Given the reviews and the brand Best Western (which I have had largely good experiences of), I was extremely disappointed with this stay. The location is very handy for shops and nightlife but unless I was travelling by train and was just after a bed for the night and nothing else, then I would not return. Even then, I would still try to find somewhere nicer as there was plenty of choice.

I appreciate you taking the time to write your review on tripadvisor. Your feedback is important to us. As a 3 star hotel we use this to improve our offerings.
As mentioned unfortunately as a city centre hotel we do not have our own car parking. We do offer a discount with the local NCP Car Park, I have checked with the NCP manager & he has assured me that the information published on our Maldron Hotel Web page is accurate. As you found this information to be unclear I will have our marketing department relook at this content.
We pride ourselves on our customer service & I am disappointed that your experience did not reflect the positive elements of the hotel.
I hope you will consider staying with us again and I would be happy to deal with any future requests you may have directly.
