“Reasonably good”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2012

Visited here as we had a living social voucher. Don't usually eat out at curry houses as most of them don't do it for me. However, this was surprisingly good as we didn't expect a lot. Our dishes had distinct flavours (not the standard 'sauce off a jar' taste) and the portions were reasonable. Had a starter of seekh kebabs which was average, and a main of achari gosht (good but have had better in Cardiff). My wife's hyderabadi biriyani was probably the best dish on the table.
Service is standard; nothing to rave about whilst the ambience is very good. I would probably visit again but not paying full price.

“Previous reviews misleading”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2012

Thought we would visit here as reviews praised it. It's difficult to think that those reviews were related to the same restaurant. When we arrived we had a cold reception not the most welcoming that I have experienced at other Indian restaurants. One of the staff was going around sweeping the floor as we were dining, not the ideal dining experience. Service was very slow. Surprising as we were the 1st diners of the evening. In fairness the food was average to very good. Overall dissapointing as it did not live up to the reviews that were previously posted.

“Service With A Sneer”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2012

AWFUL, AWFUL, AWFUL!!!!!!!

If you like service with a smile then avoid this place at all costs. Having bought living social vouchers for this place which we presented to the manager who then looked at us as if we were something he stood in. The mojito cocktails forming part of the living social deal were an embarrassment at best which were devoid of any alcohol and took over 30 minutes to arrive. The food wasn't bad to be fair but the whole evening was ruined by the staff by being made to feel like a second class citizen by trying to redeem a living social voucher. The table waiter had no manners whatsoever and even cleared his throat at our table whilst we were eating - Nice!

We won't be returning!!!!!

“Worst service ever !”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2012

We bought a living social voucher for Haveli - called to book a table and were asked if we had a voucher to which we replied yes - then told they infact didn't have a table available until very late. Said no thanks then called back and Said no voucher and what do you know-they suddenly had a table ! Unbelievable ! So we went, sat down then announced we had vouchers, so I'm not sure if the awful night we had was due to this or it's always so bad. The "cocktails" took 30 plus minutes to come and were the worst drinks we've ever had-all 4 of us had one sip then left them. To be fair the food that followed wasn't bad, but hearing waiters clear phlegm from their throat and talk on their mobiles ain't the best. The point of the vouchers surely is to make people want to return - we never will :)

“Great food, great value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2012

Second visit to Haveli, this time courtesy of Living Social deal. The food is very tasty; we had a korma, a delicious palak gosht and a vegetarian subzi massala, all of which delivered on taste. The peshwari naan is the best in Cardiff. Starters were also good. One of the best features of Haveli is that meals come complete with rice or naan, a (very small) vegetable dice and a small veggie sambal, all included in the price. The non-alcoholic cocktails are also very good.
The only negative was the long wait between starters and mains. I wish they'd turn the TV off as well or just show Bollywood epics rather than Euro 2012 football.
