“Great location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2011 via mobile

Stayed here for one night just to do a bit of shopping.Room is basic but that's to be expected in a travelodg, clean and tidy, perfect for the price!staff were pleasant and friendly enough. The location is perfect, right in the middle of Cardiff 1 min away from the shops & restaurants, also close to queen street train station.Noise level was fine, although it was a weekday. The windows seemed to keep any street noise out.Would definitely stay again in the near future.

Recently made the mistake of block booking accommodation here for a number of consecutive weeks for business meetings. The rooms are so unbearably hot and stuffy with no air-con at all and windows that barely open 3cms! The noise from the surrounding nightclubs is non-stop until at least 4am. After staying here twice, tried to organise a transfer to another local Travelodge and found the telephone/email staff to be very unhelpful and very slow to respond. Will avoid Travelodges at all cost in future!!

Room Tip: Stay at an alternative Travelodge in the area, avoid this one at all costs!!

This is a new travelodge and is well located in the City Centre. Room was clean and basic as expected from a travelodge. The main down side was no air conditioning and the window barely opened making it a very warm room. Rooms at the rear of the hotel also have a rather uninspiring view looking out on the back of an empty building and some offices so a room at the front of the hotel may be better.

Stayed here for one night on 16th July for my best friends hen night, checked in with no problems and went to our room on 3rd floor and were very happy with it! It was a very large room with large windows on 2 walls and plenty of space and mirrors and light for us girls to get ready fantastic! Then we went out! Had a fantastic night and were ready for our beds got back to the hotel and then were quized for half hour by security as he said three people were already in our room! Eventually we got in but being 2 ladies on our own it was very scary the thought of having to sleep on the streets of cardiff! Apart from the security hotel is very good and other staff and breakfast very pleasant

Stayed here two nights for a stag weekend.

This hotel is right in the middle of Cardiff city centre so it was really easy to get to everywhere that we wanted. It is opposite a really good bar called "Live Lounge" which was good for us as it opened until four but not good for those who want a good nights sleep and has a room facing the street.

The facilities were basic "Travelodge" style. I found the bed quite comfy but some of the others thought that they were not the best. They have a bar in reception that serve drinks at reasonable prices and they also have breakfast and pub type meals available, although I didn't try the food.

The couch in the room that doubled up as a spare bed didn't look too hygienic and could have done with a wash. The shower worked fine and the room generally felt and smelt clean.

Overall I was happy staying here, great location and it did the job. However if I was booking the hotel myself, I would've chosen a less central location as it was inconvenient to travel there by car. We had to drive around the centre for about forty minutes trying to find the hotel and then a car park that was close to the hotel. The centre is pedestrianized and a lot of the roads get closed at night so its really difficult to get to the hotel if you do not arrive during the day. The car park on Greyfriars road that we used cost £36 for two nights parking so I would advise that car drivers find a hotel where you can park on the street for free.

We stayed in 3 family rooms on Saturday evening at this travel lodge. The hotel is very centrally located, close to bars, shops and places to eat. You could almost walk past the entrance as you don't really notice it. The reception is on the first floor, there are two lifts. We had booked early check in for 10.00pounds but our room wasn't ready - but we didn't have to wait long, about ten minutes. We took the lift up and you gain entry to the corridor with your room via your keycard which is a good security feature. The room was very basic, but clean. However we were only given one set of towels for 3 ladies and no bedding for the sofa bed. The light was awful, two very small windows and the room was very hot. The other rooms we checked into later on in the day and were similar however the room to the front which overlooked the street was much larger with more windows but noisy (as you would expect to be fair!). They are tight on the milk, tea and coffee but will give you more happily if you ask. The hotel staff were polite and friendly. The bathroom shower was good and powerful. If you are after a good value, central hotel in cardiff and aren't worry about any frills this is fine. BUT! do expect noise...security on the door when you arrive back after 10pm....very very basic rooms without any frills and no phone.... a very small LCD TV...but to stay for a night and to be close to the center it is fine. However, personally if I stayed again I would probably prefer to pay a bit more for something a littler nicer, I hated the poor light - rubbish to do your makeup in!! :-(). They do a breakfast buffet which was 6.95 for all you can eat which I did not personally try but two of our group did which was pretty good value.

Room Tip: Street rooms are larger with more light.

This was our first trip to a Travelodge hotel. This seemed very close to the train and bus stations and in the city centre near the cardiff castle. We stayed on a weekday and hence i guess it was not that crowded and had an awsome deal offered for the stay.

The hotel rooms were very basic but really clean and fit to purpose.

The thing i hated about the rooms were the size of the window.. it was fit to be a ventilator than a window and to make it worse it opened on the shopping street so any attempts to open it brought all the noise from the partying places nearby and the party goers shouting aloud till mid night.

If the purpose is partying then its perfect as it has some nice clubs nearby and music is loud enough.

Also do remember this is a budget hotel so do not be surprised when someone knocks on the door at 11.45 am to remind you that your time is up so leave. :)

Room Tip: try and book in advance for a good price
