Two of my friends and i booked this hotel in January 2013 as it was central well priced and reviews seemed to be good. We managed to book a triple room, which was brilliant as very few hotels in the centre of Cardiff. However, on the day (in Easter), we were politely informed that there were no triple rooms available. This defeats the purpose of booking a room in advance in the first place. We were instead offered a double room with an extra foldable bed included. This was already not a very acceptable arrangement, however we had nowhere else to go at that point. We tried it out for one night, however, the room was crammed, impossible to get around, and the foldable bed, needless to say, was the most uncomfortable thing ever. We tried to explain to the receptionist/manager that this was not going to work. we asked whether they could book us in another hotel or at least give us some of our money back, to which they said no, but they could try and make the bed more comfortable! So on returning to the hotel room that day we found two mattress on the foldable bed, talk about adding insult to injury. At this point it had turned out to be a bit of a farse! Finally, on the last day we were informed that the triple room was now available. This meant returning to our room, packing heading into another room and unpacking again.
This was not the only issue we encountered. The bathroom in the first room had only one set of lights working, so we technically had to shower in the dark. This would not have been a problem if this was a romantic escapade but unfortunately...it wasn't! The hotel staff was also informed about this but nothing was done about it either.#
To conclude, this hotel gets 2 points, 1 cause it is central and 1 cause the rooms were admittedly clean. had it not been for the poor customer service and the hideous way were dealt with it would have been an enjoyable stay.
