Never attempt to stay there! I've never posted a review before, as I've never felt the need to. However, I feel I need to warn others about the way this particular hotel operates. It is extremely badly organised, certain reception staff unhelpful and deceitful. They took money on credit card without authority. We had booked four double rooms as we were attending a wedding nearby. On arriving at hotel, were told we had no rooms booked. I produced booking confirmation, when they agreed we had booked, but they didn't have any rooms available. Then they managed to find two rooms. After much insistence on our part, they finally agreed to book two rooms elsewhere. This happened to be 15 miles away! It was agreed they would arrange a taxi from Park Inn to alternative hotel. They also agreed that I would be able to discuss a reasonable discount for all the inconvenience. This took about two hours to sort out, and as a result we missed the evening wedding buffet. On returning to the hotel from evening reception we were told we would have to pay then (at 1.00am) or no rooms would be available to us - totally going back on our earlier agreement. After much argument, it was agreed this could be sorted the following morning. We eventually arrived at alternative hotel at around 2.30 am, and had to be up again at 8.00 am to get taxi to take us back to Park Inn for breakfast. Whilst at the alternative hotel, we were made aware of another 8 families in the same predicament, i.e. the Park Inn had double booked at least 10 rooms on that same day. There may well have been other people in other hotels which we were unaware of. We were also informed that it's standard practice for these types of establishments to double book two or three rooms in case some people don't turn up. The problem is, when people do then turn up there are no rooms available. It's my understanding that Park Inn take this standard practice to extremes, and double book a significant number of rooms on a regular basis, with the result that many people, having booked rooms, turn up to discover there are none available. On returning to Park Inn in the morning, we were again asked for credit card details to make payment. I stated that they already had our card details, but was told they could not take payment without a specific code number and my express authority. I said that I was not happy to pay without speaking with the manager first to formally complain. I was told the manager was unavailable, and to discuss with him on Monday. Imagine my surprise, when, without any notification to me, monies have been taken out of my account, before I had any chance to speak with the manager. Of the two rooms that were available at Park Inn, heating was broken in one of them. When we complained, we were told just to turn the thermostat. Explained that had already been done, but heating still not working. Further argument in attempt to get that fixed. Place was dingy and unkempt. We will never again have anything to do with this company, and would advise anyone to avoid the place, it's just not worth the stress and time to sort things out. In no way did we have the relaxing weekend we had intended, and to spend time together as a family. One member of the party suffered a migraine, another had a completely sleepless night, and we were all extremely stressed, angry frustrated and exhausted, by the inability of the staff to appreciate how distressing the whole experience was. Absolutely disgraceful place!
