“Needs updating”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2014

I have been going here for 15 yrs now. At the first few visits it was great. Now I have little children again but not much of the displays have changed. The airballoon never seems to work.

It is ok for 1 visit but not something you can go to over and over again as things dont change.

“Excellent for 2 to 12 year olds!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2014

We were hesitant to go, but the trip was well worth it (only £25 for a family of 4). Our 9 and 11 year old kids had a great time with all of the hands-on activities. While the younger children will just run around playing with the activities, the older kids can enjoy and read the placards about the science behind the activity. The "Don't Do This At Home" show was a nice break, and introduced the kids to done basic (but otherwise very dangerous) home based science.
We went on a Saturday (not during term break); we recommend early in the day or an hour before closing. At 1200, the place was packed with kids running everywhere and being chaotic; by 1530, there was hardly anyone there.

“Great day out for the kid in all of us!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2014

Well worth a visit for anyone of any age although the prices can be considerable when you have more than three of you! So much to see and do you can make a day of it and the food is cheap and tasty!

“Excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2014

We only popped in here because it was raining and needed something to do inside. What a gem. The kids were fascinated with all the things to do. So much better than other science places we have been. Shame we don't live nearer :)

“Great value day out for everyone”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2014

This is the second visit for us this year and our 5th overall. I took three 8 year olds this time. You can never predict how busy it will be but we lucked out and it wasn't too packed which made it ever so pleasant. The exhibitions had been moved around and there were a few new ones which keeps it interesting. There are things that I really really like about this place:

1. Friendly helpful staff
2. Exhibitions are clean, well stocked and work - there are staff who actually come and engage with the children while they are playing. We spent ages building wooden towers with one member of staff.
3. The space is open and airy and well laid out so even if it is busy it doesn't feel so.
4. Mostly great shows
5. Excellent shop with small reasonably priced good quality things in it
6. You just cannot beat the location - its awesome and there's plenty of places to eat nearby (the food is passable but better elsewhere).

I would say that the science show which is on at the moment is by far the weakest of all the shows we have seen and felt short and half hearted - definitley a could do better but it did not detract from the excellent facility that this is for a fun educational day out.
