“Brilliant day out in all weathers”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2013

As a family we are regular visitors to this fantastic place, it has something for everyone. The only downside is that the cafe prices are extortionate plus stale cakes I have found and this is twice, the solution we have found is take our own food and weather permitting there are fabulous lawns outside to enjoy your meal. I would recommend this attraction to anyone visiting Cardiff.

“Well worth remembering for a wet afternoon!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2013

We bought a £5 family day rover bus ticket and travelled up to the museum. The stop is right outside. It was raining and the museum is free. We spent an hour and a half but did not see the art floor. The museum is great for children. It is probably best to describe it as a museum of the natural history of Wales. It has dinosaurs, volcanoes and a moon rock. The treasures are very impressive especially the cameo jewellery piece. My son liked the stuffed bird room and the shark- a small criticism is having been to other museums it would be nice to have more interactive displays although must admit the woolly mammoth was sick on our visit! We would have loved to see the art but after seeing one floor we went to cafe to regroup. The cafe looked like been hosting a food fight. Was disgusting. We decided to go back to Cardiff which was a bit disappointing. It was really good value and held our 7 year old's attention which is rare. If you like this, dare I recommend national museum in Edinburgh. Lol

Spent a rainy afternoon with 2 kids (11 &7) in natural history section. On a par with London equivalent. free entry a bonus. Great restaurant offered good value. No time for art collection Monets Van Goghs -worth a return visit,

“Nothing better than to explore this place on a wet afternoon.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2013

I have always loved this place - its perfect for kids of all ages - We've taken our kids since they could walk and they have always loved it. Now I like to spend an hour or so in one room just drinking it all in. If you are coming to Cardiff - you must spend a few hours here.
