“Fab if you fancy spicy food from lunchtime - 3.30”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2012

Wow ,what a find. The taste, We have been going here for over 2 years now. The food is different and so fresh, the chef has an open kitchen and is prepared in minutes. I love the chicken 65, I think thats right. The lamb in thick sauce with the home made bread ( what a revelation that was). The waitress is so attentive and helpful.
Many asians visit we noticed, good rule of thumb if they eat there. They have a drinks license as well.
The wife has a vege Thali, this has an assortment of foods on a platter, all vary clean and well presented.
30 mile round trip for us and worth evey penny. No prawns. Try there other half next door. Mint and Mustard. Soft backed CRAB amazing. Only open in the evening.

“Fantastic Indian street food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2012

This is a smart cafe serving absolutely fantastic Indian street food. Dinner thali (£9.95 - a complete meal) contains 9 different items, each of which are freshly prepared and deliciously and subtly flavoured. Keralan food in Cardiff like it is today in India.

“So delicious at really good prices!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2012

After reading the great reviews for this place, my boyfriend and I decided to try it out for lunch and we were not dissapointed. We both opted for the lunch Thali, which was described as Indian Tapas style eating and consisted of one meat dish, one veg dish, a dahl dish, raita, rice and chapati. For a mere £6 this was a complete bargain as it filled me up and was SO delilcious. Some of the best Indian food I have ever had. Will definitely be going back for their Dinner Thali which is only £10 and comes with even more dishes. Our waitress was also really friendly and I liked that you could see and hear the chefs prepping and cooking all the food.

“Fab, fab, fab”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2012

What can I say? Chai Street is probably the perfect neighbourhood Indian restaurant, and came highly recommended by two good friends who are experts in the curry field!

We've only eaten there in the evenings, and found the Thali's fabulous in terms of size, taste and value. The service is great, the atmosphere refreshingly informal, and the beer cold. What more could you ask for? It's also a welcome change in atmosphere - and cost - from Mint and Mustard next door, where the push for sophistication and some of the prices can take the edge of an evening.
