“Excellent location, great stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

We stayed 2 nights at Sleeperz. We arrived in Cardiff at Cardiff Central Station, and was pleasantly surprised how close the hotel was to the train station. We could see it from the train platform and it is literally next to the station. However, we did not hear the train at all while staying there. The buffet breakfast was a good price. It included a traditional hot English breakfast of eggs, meat, baked beans and toast, as well as cereal and pastries, The room was clean and modern but you must be aware that it is very small: the bathroom is one step away from your bed (very convenient in that sense!) and not much space to move around in the room. It would be quite comfortable for one person, but a little cramped for 2. The hotel was very convenient for us to walk to the Castle, National Museum and the shopping area. There is a bus that one can also take to the bay area. We are very pleased with our decision to stay at this hotel. We only had 2 days here and we were able to see most of the attractions we wanted in a convenient and relaxing manner.

I stayed two nights in this hotel at the end of October. The hotel is in a great location, just next to the train station, and not far from city centre restaurants and bars. The hotel was clean and modern, with a 24 hour reception and bar, and the room had everything I needed for a short stay - a comfy bed, good ensuite shower, and a TV. I got a good deal direct from the hotel (better than the deals I found on hotel booking websites) so breakfast was included. The hotel staff were all wonderful. When the receptionist found out I was vegetarian she offered to arrange for some veggie sausages to be ready for me at breakfast time, and said on our last day we could take breakfast with us even though we were checking out before the buffet was due to start.
We checked in to the hotel at 9pm so the restaurant had just closed, though the receptionist offered to ask the kitchen to make us something anyway. We decided to go out instead, and the receptionist was extremely helpful in giving us directions to a really nice Chinese round the corner (Wok to Walk).
On our last day when we were leaving before breakfast had started, one of the staff fetched us take away cups and bags so we could take tea, jam, pastries and bread with us to eat on the train. The seeded bread rolls were delicious.
I would definitely try and stay here next time I’m in Cardiff. It’s clean, comfortable, in a great location and the staff couldn’t do enough to help.

Hotel was easy to find, and the staff welcoming. Room was very clean and perfectly adequate for a night or two (that is, it was very compact, and not somewhere for relaxing during the day).

I didn't try the breakfast, so can't comment on that.

I have just spent one night with my wife and two teenage daughters in this hotel. In its favour was the central location the relatively clean and tidy rooms and decent tv facilities. Beyond that there was nothing to recommend it; the reasonably priced rooms do not make up for no parking belonging to the hotel. For overnight stay add £10 to the bill. The rooms were only just a little larger than a channel ferry standard- plus room. The shower flooded the entire bathroom area and did not drain properly. There was a light missing from the bathroom and another in the bedroom for reading. £8 for a continental style breakfast was exorbitant.I originally asked for a double bedroom for my wife and myself and twin beds for the girls. They were provided with a double and thus spent the night not sleeping well. The air conditioning did not work properly.. More worrying was the noise and disruption caused by other guests and their visitors. On one occasion in the early hours we were woken by someone knocking on our door before disappearing. Young girls shouting at the top of their voices continued into the early hours.I have serous doubts about the security of this hotel. I have written many reports for Trip Advisor ; this experience was easily the worst I have experienced in quite a few years.

This hotel is ideal for a weekend/overnight break. The location can't be beaten in my eyes.
The room was very clean, modern and comfortable. As per other reviews, the room is VERY small, but has all the facilities you need. The bathroom was very tight around the toilet/sink area but the shower was hot, powerful and had plenty of space. It is a wet room style but our things didn't get wet as others have mentioned. The door to the bathroom is glass and doesn't close fully so perhaps not ideal if with friends.
The staff at reception were very friendly and helpful. There is a little bar and comfortable seating area with a lovely fire.
We were offered a breakfast deal of £5 each which we accepted as we thought it was a good offer, however, the experience was a sham! We had to constantly ask for basic things that were missing on the buffet like cereal, white bread, sugar, eggs, beans. We were made to feel that we were making a nuisance of ourselves. The experience wasn't good as nothing was available at the same time, also tables hadn't been cleared and we had to sit on a table that had been previously sat on and shift the dirty crockery to one side ourselves.
This aside we would definitely stay here again and recommend to others.

Room Tip: Our room was facing St Mary street, we slept great, no noise.

This hotel is better than good, its excellent. Its in a great location not just for the station but also for the City centre. The rooms are small but more than adequately equipped and extremely comfortable. The quality of the food was surprisingly good with a good range of meals and ample portion sizes. The breakfast, booked in advance was great value. What makes this hotel stand out is the staff, they were all unbelievably helpful, professional and knowledgeable, they really made the difference to my stay. I would without hesitaion recommend the hotel and will be returning.

Room Tip: Opt for a Queen size room and book the breakfast in advance.

I stayed in sleeperz for 4 nights in Sep, 2012.
The rooms are clean, modern but small. I was alone so it was OK, but for 2 persons the room was too small. No swimming pool / fitness centre is another negative.
Breakfast is good.
Location is verrry good. Just 1 minute walk from the central rail and bus station. All major attractions (bay, castle, city hall, museum etc) are within 15 min walking distance.
The staff was friendly and cooperative.
If u r alone, its the best choice in Cardiff.
