“Lovely place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2013

A lovely building, with a grand staircase. Rooms are spacious and we had a jacuzzi in the Japanese room but the bed was very low. Possibly not everyone's choice. Lots of choice at breakfast and was tasty but expected better to be honest Would stay again.

Thank you for your lovely review. You are right the Japanese bed is low and might not be to some peoples taste but we have tried to be as authentic as we could when decorating this room. However there are lots more rooms to try out if one prefers a higher bed. Hope to see you again soon at the manor.

My daughter got married at Court Colman on 24th May 2013, What a wonderful day we all had. Staff were helpful and efficient, the food was excellent, everything went smoothly from beginning to end. ideal place for a wedding, plenty of rooms that flow from one to another with big comfy sofas. The room for the ceremony was beautiful. Me and my husband had the Japanese room it was fantastic, even had a Jacuzzi and the view overlooking the grounds was beautiful to wake up to. Many thanks to you all.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2013

Attended a wedding on the 5th May and was glad it turned out to be a lovely sunny day so we could sit outside and enjoy the outstanding views as it's such a lovely place in a lovely setting.

Downside was the food, soup Leek and Potato was tasty and hot, beef very tender but the veg was poor, the cauliflower looked burnt and had an awful smell to it, peas tasteless, carrots nice, yorkshire pud and roast potatoes like rocks, in fact one lady on our table tried to cut her potato but couldn't and she splattered herself, her husband and another guest in gravy! Dessert was nice but such a shame about the main course, especially for such an important occasion. Also the room in which the meal was served in was quite cramped, so maybe they need to limit the numbers of guests they can actually fit in there.

Plus side, staff friendly and helpful and again a lovely venue, very clean and toilets spotless! (well the ladies was, not sure about the gents!!!).

Thank you for your review and your positive comments towards the hotel. We are sorry that the food didn't meet your expectations this time. I have to say we didn't have any other negative comments regarding this. It is a shame you didn't feel the need to say anything to us at the time and instead you wrote on a review site without giving us a chance to remedy the situation on the day. I'm sure next time you come to the manor you will have a more pleasurable experience.

Dates back to at least Tudor times, but its Restaurant is Indian Welsh - an extensive Indian menu back up by a number of traditional Welsh dishes. Dinners were superb. Stayed in one of the Themed Rooms (Japanese Suite) which had a very comfortable Foton Bed, and a Jacuzzi bathroom. Our friends were in the Gothic Suite, a large comfortable well appointed suite. Staff were curteous and helpful. Rural setting, with good gardens and views. Hotel specialises in Weddings and Conferences, but is great for couples/groups.

Room Tip: Stay to include/start on a Sunday. Look out for voucher scheme offers.

The hotel looks lovely on arrival - it's a listed building - and the reception is a discrete counter to the left who were prompt and pleasant. There is a small bar and resident's lounge to the right, neither of which we used. However we looked round and the over-sized champagne cork stools were a quirky touch, as were the large bellows tables.

We were in the French themed room on the second floor and said wow when we walked in. A warning to those staying that there is no lift. Fortunately we were able to manage our luggage solo but there wasn't an offer a help so it's lucky we could. It was a very large room with a double bed. We felt lucky to be here in relatively good weather as two of the small window panes were broken with glass missing. This was noisy at night due to the wind howling. The view was gorgeous. It was clean.

We had a fabulous bathroom with Jacuzzi bath. The decoration was lovely and well done in there - there was a flat sink surround with no soap dish which did slightly pose a problem in terms of the soap making a bid for freedom or becoming stuck and not easy to pick up!

The breakfast was average - nothing wrong, but nothing stand out. Service was pleasant. We had meal in the Indian restaurant. Downside was over priced poppadums and indifferent chutneys. It was a relief then that the mixed starter was very good. Our waitress wasn't sure what would arrive but there was definitely a prawn, lamb kofta, chicken and fish! The vegetable biriyani and chicken curry were good but not stand out. Pleasant overall.

Room Tip: We loved the jacuzzi bathroom

Thank you for your kind review.
The problems you encountered in your room are being dealt with as we speak. We built a brand new modern bathroom and forgot a soap dish!!!
We hope to welcome you to the manor again in the near future.

My partner and I stayed at Court Colman Manor for a long weekend. We stayed in the fabulous Japanese room which featured a large room with low bed and fabulous bathroom with Jacuzzi bath. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and we would definitely stay there again. The hotel itself is set well away from main roads and is very quiet. A great location for a wedding.

Room Tip: Look at the themed rooms which all seemed to of a good size and great value.
