A basic hotel but you get a good quality hotel room with all that you need. Free wifi, clean bed, hot shower, right next to the mtoorway - what more do you want for a one night stopover. No real breakfast but plenty of places very nearby to go.

Arrived and checked in to room, the room was very dated and could do with a refurbishement, you had to walk down to the reception area to fill up your kettle as no drinking water in rooms. on departure one houskeeper went on to another and caused a scene so the receptionist took them into a room, not very professional. would not recomend as the price compared to other hotels is not much diffrent but standard is a lot better at other branded hotels.

, General Manager at Days Inn Bridgend Cardiff, responded to this review, July 13, 2012
Thank you for comments regarding your recent stay at Days Inn Bridgend Cardiff.

We are continually investing in to our Hotels at Welcome Break, and this property in particularly, has seen a part upgrade in recent months, with hopefully continued investment over the next 6 months.

Part of the investment is to look in to the Hotel water system, as currently we advise that drinking straight from the tap is not recommended. Boiling the water first is completely fine, and as an extra measure we have installed a filtered water fountain at the Hotel for drinkable water.

In terms of rates at the Hotel, we remain competitive to the other hotel brands that are available in our local area, in particularly 3 hotels that are in the immediate vicinity, where we can be on some nights £20 cheaper.

We thank you for your concerns and queries, but please feel rest assured that we are dealing with them and hope we get the oppertunity to welcome you back in the near future.

This place is convenient for the bridgend, vale of glamorgan and llynfi, garw and ogmore valleys. It's no frills and a little dated and worn but it is clean and there are good deals to be had if booked on laterooms. The staff are helpful, the rooms have free wi-fi which most places still don't seem to have. The Tyrisha pub-restaurant is very close and a great place to eat with good brains beer. just walk behind the hotel and across the grass to an open gate, take a left along the footpath and over the footbridge untill you reach a t-junction. turn right here and a few hundred yards in front of you is the pub..... simple! The McArthur Glen retail park is very close with a multiplex cinema, pizzahut and Harvester if thats your thing. You can walk there using the same route as the pub...... just turn left at the t-junction after the footbridge instead of right. There is a sainsburys supermarket and petrol station there too. There are also smoking rooms available in the hotel which I must say is very, very ciivilised indeed. More hotels should have smoking rooms. The noise disturbance levels were very, very low. All in all a decent deal.

We stayed here for 2 nights and found it's position pleasant for a Motorway service area the receptionist could not have been more helpful. The room was pleasant great to have free Wi Fi .The beds were fine with a single and a double and a chilled water fountain in the reception area was very handy. One negative as a disabled driver very annoying that the spaces were used by non disabled drivers and a member of staff when there were ample spaces around the hotel.First time in a Day's Inn and certainley more attention to detail than a Travelodge.

Room Tip: Ask for a rear room if you are a light sleeper

was given room key when up to room out side one of the rooms on my floor was the white plastic which you put round boxes which should have been picked up a breach of health and safety.

loo was dirty there was a dirty stain in it look like it had not been clean for a week

on leaving the upstairs door at the topthe stairs was blocked by a 2 black rubbish bags took me a while to push though

Not a great hotel for health and and safety. warning to anyone be careful they like to breach Health and Safety

Arrived in darkness in car park due to faulty lights, not a good start or safe start. Receptionist was ver y helpful and quick to check us in. Room good value for money (£39.95) Bathroom is designed for small people, tiny bath and shower head could do with being raised by 2 feet,it needs a bit of an update but CLEAN. Water not for drinking???????????
Bed was comfy, no outside noise from motorway so a good night sleep was had. Didnt have the continental breakfast as we went to the premier inn across the motorway for a full english.

Room Tip: take bottled water as water in bathroom "not for drinking"
