“Lovely setting for a drink - but don't have food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2011

Have been to this pub many times for a drink on a sunny day as it has a beautiful setting, lovely outside seating and a small play area for young children. Went there today with family and friends for Sunday lunch and the food and service was poor. I had a beef dinner which was void of any flavour, the meat was bitty, just lots of small pieces of tough beef and the vegetables were soggy. The service was slow at best; we had to chase for drinks and for childrens menus and when they came the drinks were wrong. I have eaten here before and the food is never great, but its ok if you stick to the basic fare of jacket potatoes or scampi, it's just not worth trying the more exciting things on the menu as they aren't up to it. I would recomend as somewhere to stop when the sun is shining so you can sit outside, but if eating stick to the basics and keep expectations low.

“poor service and standard would not recommend”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2010

Eaten here twice, once in the day and enjoyed the experiance, booked a family meal here arrived and the staff were not much help sat to eat and ordered the meal 10-15 mins into service was told they didnt have the currys that were ordered so family members ordered another meal, another 40 mins later they sent a waitress to tell us that they didnt have two other meals! then the food took another 40 mins to arrive the food was awful and the garnish servings had clearly been standing for some time the chips were like grease blobs & items that were part of the meal did not arrive at all!
the annoying thing is that is wasnt busy there so they had no excuses for this appauling service.

3 members of my family were ill the following day i do not recommend and would never consider eating there again, its a shame as its a waste of a lovely location

“watch the accompaniments!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2010

Ate here on a hot summer afternoon. Ordered prawn baguette and asked for extra mayonaise which came in an unchilled pot with a greasy coating. not convinced prawns chilled to proper temperature either, defrosted under running water taste. Being very British removed the offending crust on mayo and carried on...big mistake. 4 days of food poisoning followed. Complained to company who were very disinterested and wanted 'proof' it was there food. Good pub brand but this restaurant falls down badly on expected food hygiene.
