We eventually, after several sterile visits over recents years only to find the place closed, tried this village local near Bridgend. I have to say that first impressions weren't great. The welcome was less than enthusiastic and we were shown to a small table with a plastic tablecloth next to the pool table in the top bar. Admittedly, we hadn't booked, so please do so if you wish to be seated in the main lounge. The menu arrived and we were impressed with the wide range of meals on offer. The service was, sadly, very tardy and after waiting a good ten minutes I had to go to be bar to ask if they would take our order. This service standard I'm afraid persisted throughout the meal with a further course and the bill having to be chased up. What is such a shame is that once the food arrived it was well coooked, delicious and represented good value for money - if only the chef's attention to detail could be replicated in the service and ambience then there would be standing room only. In all honesty, we probably wouldn't eat there again, or certainly not until some of the service issues had been addressed, which is such a shame as it's location and potential to be a really good pub/restaurant is quite obvious.
