“Good location, good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2014

Located within the centre of Bridgend next to the river it's accessible and convenient. It has additional seating upstairs and in good weather some outside seating overlooking the river. The menu offers a good variety, but is a little confusing. It offered good value of 2 courses for £9.50. We were a party of 7, with most people having different choices. All seemed to enjoy the meal. I had a Moroccan lamb dish. The lamb was tender and the sauce tasty. The service was a little slow, especially as it wasn't that busy. I would recommend it though and I'm likely to return again.

“Best food in the area but service could be better”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2014

I've dined here many times and the food has always been excellent. The food is up there with the best restaurants around but the only thing that stops this restaurant being better is the service which can be good at times but poor at other times. The wine service is especially poor. For the price you pay I expect a bottle of wine to be brought to the table unopened and an offer to taste being made. Then I expect the wine to be poured. Instead wine is brought to the table and left for you to pour yourself. This spoils the experience a bit.

Building has character especially the upstairs room which I prefer to downstairs.

“Outstanding food, lovely room”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2014 via mobile

The Sunday carvery menu was varied (four veggie mains and a choice of three carvery meats for meat eaters) and sensibly priced. The home made soup was delicious, as were all the mains and accompaniments. This is a good quality restaurant with a "proper" chef. The puddings were all wonderful too.

The service was very friendly but a little disorganised. One of the starters arrived significantly later than the others.

“Very good lunch menu”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2014 via mobile

Good lunchtime menu, with good choice. Service was excellent. Food was good and very good value. Only ate main course hence 4 stars....might have been 5 if starter and dessert as well! Well worth a visit.

“Fabulous meal and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2014

We were a party of 12 with children included and we ate on a Saturday evening. We pre-ordered the meals in advance as we were such a large party but the staff were more than willing to accept changes to our order once we'd arrived. The food was served promptly and was hot and extremely tasty. The staff were very helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. All the courses were served in a timely manner and no one had to wait for their food. Vegetables and potatoes/chips were served in separate bowls and staff were happy to top up the bowls if we required more. Wide choice of desserts....all delicious! Lovely clean, cosy environment. I imagine the views over the river in summer would be lovely. Would highly recommend this restaurant.
