“all fine at the george”

The George Hotel

Feb 24, 2008

Stayed overnight whilst visiting my daughter at the local boarding school. Paid £58 for a twin room for single use (£3 of the price was the cost of my dog staying with me.)
No carpark but co-op car park less than 2 mins walk away but you can only pay for 2 hours at a time which is a bit of a pain. Parking is free there between 6pm and 8am.
Room 2 was a decent size, coffee and tea provided, near to reception, quiet at night - no problems at all. Sheets crisp and bed comfortable and toiletries provided.
The breakfast was excellent and I found all the staff to be very friendly and efficient.>
Although I didn't have dinner in the pub, I did have a drink there later and the food being served to others looked delicious. I would definitely try the food next time.
Check in and out was efficient and I have no complaints whatsoever.

“Let Down”

The George Hotel

Feb 5, 2008

The hotel is situated in the town centre, the first thing you find is that there is no car park, but there is a long stay car park behind Morrison’s super market a 10 minute walk away. The rooms are very basic, when you finally get to bed, you don’t sleep, there is loud music to the early hours of the morning, breakfast is ok, but be careful when you check out as the room rate mysteriously rises which we argued and got reduced to the agreed price, just like the people who checked out before us.

Would we go there again – Simple Answer – NO!, if we go to Brecon again, we would stay at the Castle Hotel.

“A lovely break”

The George Hotel

Dec 31, 2007

My husband and I stayed here for a night and had a lovely time. There was no noisey band and the hotel had lots of character and friendly staff. what I will say to others who complained is that when you stay at a pub or inn you do expect some noise?? but as I say we had a great time, lovely village great little shops and tea rooms, I will be back!

I stayed here on business for one night and found it ok. The room was fairly basic with a shower in a bath. The shower wasn't very high, so if you’re like me standing at 6ft+ you may struggle. The view out of my room was that of a building next door. I was expecting a better view from my room. The breakfast in the morning was very good. Recommend the full English. I found the staff and the service were good. Overall if you’re spending a night on business then this hotel is not bad.

I visited this hotel for a 1 night stay in December on business. I normally use The Castle Hotel but as it was fully booked so I tried The George. I called the hotel directly to book and found the member of staff that I spoke to most unhelpful.

On arriving I was greeted by a dark reception area with no staff and was forced to ask bar staff to assist me. When I finally found my room located in a building opposite the main hotel, I found a tired room which was in need of refresh.

My evening meal was not of a good standard so if you are thinking of eating here, dont! There is an italian just off the centre of town called Robertos where the food is pleasant and the service is excellent.

I was looking forward to a late start as my meeting was not booked until 11am but my room was located on a busy street in the centre of town which was very noisy first thing so I was woken at 7:30 by delivery lorries and traffic.

In conclusion, I would never waste my money at this hotel again.
