Joy and Doug Browning run a very good, laid-back, informal establishment. They are also lovely people. There are only three bedrooms, but each is fine with comfy beds and good full bathrooms. The downstairs bar/restaurant area is comfortablly rustic. Doug's cooking is first rate. He allows good ingredients to speak for themselves and keeps fussiness to a minimum. Breakfasts are superb with fresh fruit as well as a wonderful full fried. You will need to check ahead because the restaurant does not open every night of the week and sometimes is closed on days when it might otherwise be open. This is where you might encounter the only problem with this wonderful establishment: The Brownings are not the world's best communicators. You cannot email and sometimes you may wait a while to get a phone call returned. It can be a bit annoying at times, but patience will be well rewarded. As to location, it is hard to imagine a better one. Half an hour's walk puts you into the most dramatic scenery in the Brecon Beacons with Pen y Fan close at hand for the strong and the determined. Prices for both rooms and food are very reasonable. This place is an old favourit eof mine. I shall return again and again.
