“Excellent value, like staying with a distant Aunt and Uncle!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2013

We stayed there in June 2013 for one night when we went to a wedding. The owners are great, very welcoming and pleasant. Feels a bit like staying with a distant Aunt and Uncle. We had room 7 and it was a bit quirky. Kettle lead didn't reach the plug so we boiled it on the floor, not ideal if you have small children. The old CRT TV seemed huge in a world where we are used to slim flat screens; but it had a good picture so what's the problem?
The breakfast was awesome. Bacon bordering on Gammon steak in thickness! And the cost is extremely reasonable. I've had a lot worse facilities for a lot more money.

The review was greatly appreciated. However we would like to make clear that Room 7 is a double room and not used as a family room, of which we have 2. None of our televisions are the latest flat screen as, when Wales went digital, and all sets were in good working condition, we decided on digi-boxes as to replace 10 TVs would have resulted in us increasing our room rates.

Stayed in the Landsdowne twice during the summer. First time was at the end of June when we were over for a friends wedding and i have to say the hotel was lovely and comfortable. The women working in the hotel were very welcoming and made our stay a really enjoyable one. My room was on the ground floor and was very spacious and clean. The breakfast in the mornings were cooked to order and sooo tasty. Of course with us being over for a wedding and being irish the wkend was going to be a messy one...and the welch most certainly helped us have one of the best wkends that summer. On our leaving day the staff gave us a nice send off and back home we went. On arriving back in Belfast i realised i had forgot or lost (wasnt sure) my black coat..I did spend the whole wkend drunk afterall lol so i just accepted that it was gone and that was that.

Clearly having had such a good wkend we really depressed to be back home and decided that we wanted to go back and so we booked to come over in July for the Jazz Festival. Of course when booking we choose the Landsdowne again not only for its friendly staff, great food but also its because of its location right in the middle of town...but quiet enough to get a good sleep at night. On arrival one of the women in the hotel greeted me with my black coat which i left in my hotel room in June. I couldnt believe it..she held onto my coat as we mentioned we would love to come back and on the back of that she held onto it in case i should return. Now where would you get that...was my good coat too so thanks very much :-).

All in all if your coming to Brekon and want a great place to stay with great people...visit the Landsdowne..YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED.

Room Tip: Rooms spacious and clean.

I have a quite a few friends in Brecon and have been going there for a few years now. For this reason i wanted to stay in a hotel that was ideally located in the town with close proximity to the bars, shops and restaurants. The Lansdowne was therefore the perfect place to stay to suit the needs of both myself and my friends. Situated no more than a minute from the town centre, the Lansdowne Hotel fits the bill for visitors coming to the town for the first time and beyond. Everything is within walking distance and the homely feel of the hotel itself makes the hotel a great place to stay when coming to Brecon.

The food served in the restaurant is clean, tasty and well presented while the restaurant itself was cosy and warm to sit in. Staff are more than helpful and very welcoming to hotel guests at all times. All in all, the Lansdowne Hotel Brecon is a great place to stay and i will definately be returning in the near future.

p.s. the 'Dippy Eggs' served at breakfast are ideal for those who like to dip their toast in the morning lol

Stayed at the hotel for 2 weeks with work, As a place to get my head down it was amazing, the place was very clean and the owners are very welcoming. Rooms are a good size and more than what i needed for my stay there. The Breakfast was brilliant all freshly cooked in the morning unlike most hotels i've stayed with reheated food from the previous day's food. I ate at the hotel in the evenings and again the food was amazing! Chicken was amazing there. Close walk into the town and a very quite location (apart from the weekend when there are drunken idiots leaving the rugby club at all hours) Overall good stay for business, Might again return on a relaxing weekend break.

Room Tip: Top floor room I think it was room 6 or 8 Massive bathroom with separate toilet!

To be honest I have read all comments on trip advisor about this hotel and I’m just back from a weekends stay and totally disagree with some of the comments made. So here is my experience.

Upon arrival at the hotel we were greeted by a very welcoming reception area, it was like walking into your own home. We were in a group of four room’s two twins and two doubles. All rooms where similar in decor and very well equipped, tea and coffee facilities (hot chocolate also which was a surprise to me). The beds where comfortable and the rooms where spotlessly clean.

The breakfast was excellent with a wide range to pick from but of course we went for "the works with a dippy egg" which was excellent to build the energy for a day’s exploring Brecon. We never ate at the hotel restaurant but if breakfast is anything to go by, I’m sure it’s excellent.

I will definitely be returning to Brecon for the Jazz festival and hopefully be able to stay at this hotel again. The location is ideal as it is walking distance to everywhere in Brecon!

Room Tip: if a double room ask for room beside the resteraunt at the back as it is on its own and very quiet.

The hotel is well-located and very comfortable and welcoming. Breakfast was of a very high quality and overall the rooms and general accommodation were good value for money.
The lack of hotel parking was not too much of a problem and the late night revellers returning home sounded good-natured and were not the hotel's fault.

Room Tip: A room at the back of the hotel would be quieter.
