“Quality Sleep”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2012

Stayed at the hotel for 2 weeks with work, As a place to get my head down it was amazing, the place was very clean and the owners are very welcoming. Rooms are a good size and more than what i needed for my stay there. The Breakfast was brilliant all freshly cooked in the morning unlike most hotels i've stayed with reheated food from the previous day's food. I ate at the hotel in the evenings and again the food was amazing! Chicken was amazing there. Close walk into the town and a very quite location (apart from the weekend when there are drunken idiots leaving the rugby club at all hours) Overall good stay for business, Might again return on a relaxing weekend break.

Room Tip: Top floor room I think it was room 6 or 8 Massive bathroom with separate toilet!

To be honest I have read all comments on trip advisor about this hotel and I’m just back from a weekends stay and totally disagree with some of the comments made. So here is my experience.

Upon arrival at the hotel we were greeted by a very welcoming reception area, it was like walking into your own home. We were in a group of four room’s two twins and two doubles. All rooms where similar in decor and very well equipped, tea and coffee facilities (hot chocolate also which was a surprise to me). The beds where comfortable and the rooms where spotlessly clean.

The breakfast was excellent with a wide range to pick from but of course we went for "the works with a dippy egg" which was excellent to build the energy for a day’s exploring Brecon. We never ate at the hotel restaurant but if breakfast is anything to go by, I’m sure it’s excellent.

I will definitely be returning to Brecon for the Jazz festival and hopefully be able to stay at this hotel again. The location is ideal as it is walking distance to everywhere in Brecon!

Room Tip: if a double room ask for room beside the resteraunt at the back as it is on its own and very quiet.

The hotel is well-located and very comfortable and welcoming. Breakfast was of a very high quality and overall the rooms and general accommodation were good value for money.
The lack of hotel parking was not too much of a problem and the late night revellers returning home sounded good-natured and were not the hotel's fault.

Room Tip: A room at the back of the hotel would be quieter.

Had a brief, but enjoyable stay here. Didn't experience the problems of the first reviewer and would definately recommend it to others. A little way out of the town centre, but still very much walkable.

I think the previous guest reviewer probably felt a bit liverish when he wrote his review,he is correct in saying that the refurbishment is on going ,but i imagine he now wishes he wasn't quite so harsh.
Our bedroom was very good (No 7 ) new bathroom and shower, comfortable bed and a television on the floor rather than at the celing,a lovely area to the left of hotel entrance to read the paper with a gin & tonic, there was a faint smell of cigarette smoke on entering the reception area but it was probably a remnant of pre legislation regarding same.
The breakfast was absolutely excellent, fruit, cereals, good size pieces of bacon, eggs done perfectly, better in fact than many five star hotels my wife & I have stayed in.
The location is perfect,my only complaint is lack of long term parking outside the hotel, its short stay only but this is out of the hotels hands and this is a problem all over the brecon area.

Check the date of any review. I stayed in the Lansdowne at Brecon over an April week end and found it hard to recognise the hotel in the only other Trip Advisor review. OK its not a five star hotel - it only claims to be one star. But i Its not a soul-less motorway motel box either. It may not be perfect and there are renovations going on but my room on the top floor was full of character and the bed was great. I did experience a noisy amorous neighbour at 0115 on the Sunday morning but a quick knock on the wall shut them up. Its a hotel of character and friendliness. The staff and the owner were great. and easy to talk to and full of advice and information. It was good advice too - I did not let on until I left that I knew the town like the back of my hand having been born there. I did not eat in the evening but the breakfast was superb and the staff attentive. For £40 a night it would be hard to fault. Compared to other hotels nearer the centre of town it was also much more quiet. Only a few late night revellers going home.
