We took a pleasant two hours at the southof Wrexham, about five miles out, at the country house and extensive farm, now converted in to shops and two eating places. The main restaurant was closed, bing a Monday, but the Shippon restaurant was open and in its cosy interior, well converted, there was a buzz of interest and a number of black-dressed waitresses. The menu was in the £4-50 to £7-50 range and was good value; well cooked straightforward fare. I had a curry which had soft and eatable rice and my wife had a ploughmans lunch which turned out larger than expected, accompanied by a very pleasant pickle.
It was all well done and not expensive and a very pleasant place for a half day outing.
We were disappointed to note that many of the shops in the converted buildings were closed, even tjhough it was early September.
