“Amazing Feat of Engineering”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2014

Having only heard a little of Electric Mountain we decided on a spontaneous visit whilst staying in Wales and so glad we did what an Amazing Feat of Engineering and foresight to build before everyone and everything went "Green"
The tour itself is interesting I have 2 children 1 under 10 and 1 over 10 its true to say the over 10 was not riveted but the under 10 loved it along with me explaining things on a level to give her a greater understanding of what Electric Mountain does.

Only negative is its a little expensive for a family basing this on lots of other family things we do.

I just read some of the negative reviews on here and to say I am stunned at peoples ignorance and stupidity to understand one, the magnitude of such a build and two, how fortunate we are to have it service England and Wales at the flick of a switch.

The scale of this power station is mind boggling, all those roads and chambers built into the mountain, amazing.

“Really worthwhile visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2013

Visited in Sept 13 and certainly best to book for this as we went and found it was booked out for that day so made booking for following day.
Absolutely fascinating and amazing feat of engineering. Enthusiastic guide who gave a great review of it all. I think a visit not to be missed.

“Really Interesting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2013

We took the 11am tour of the Electric Mountain. The Station is really interesting - not a net generator of electricity - it consumes 30% more power than it produces. It is there to handle the spikes in demand - just after the end of Coronation St when everybody is turning the kettle on. It can go from 0 to 1.8mWatts (m or g) in 12 secs. That is the power of 3 new nuclear power stations. It recycles the water at night, consuming power when nobody else is.

A recommended experience.

“Great visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2013

Weren't sure if we would like this attraction but in November a lot of other things in N Wales are shut so we gave it a try. Turned out to be really interesting and enjoyable, and our tour guide was incredibly enthusiastic and brought it to life. Would strongly recommend this venue as a great experience for adults but not sure how our kids would have found it (they weren't with us). The cafe, shop and visitor centre is also really good whether you are taking the tour or not. Probably best to pre-book the tour in peak season.
