“Going into an Electric mountain”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

For the men in our party it was very interesting to see the massive cavern containing 6 water turbines and generators. The concept was brilliant they bought electricity cheap in the day from the National Grid, to pump the water from a low reservoir up to the high one, and then, at night opened the valves in the high one to drive the turbines and produce and sell this higher value electricity back to the National Grid.

“Not to be missed adventure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2013

We were fascinated by this, had no idea it existed and going right into the mountain and learning all about such an amazing engineering feat - really interesting. A power source on standby right now for all in the country,

“Fascinating underground tour”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2013

Visitor centre had very little to see but electric mountain tour definitely worth the cost, very educational and suitable for all. The guide was excellent.

“This is a bit different.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2013

May not be to everyone's liking but this 'experience' is different and reasonably priced. A bit educational I suppose but very interesting and the scale of the place should even impress the not so technically minded.
Friendly, well informed staff but not a lot to see in the visitor centre itself, you really do need to go on the underground tour. We were able to book on arrival but it may be wise to book in advance either by phone or on-line. I felt it was good value.
Nice cafe on the other side of the road!

“Unusual attraction”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2013 via mobile

The attraction is in two parts_ a free museum and a tour that gets progressively cheaper the more people you buy tickets for. The your lasts about one and a quarter hours and includes two films a well as a trip into the mountain to see the pipework and generators. We enjoyed ourselves.
