The National Slate Museum in Llanberis at the foothills of Snowden is a must visit attraction, not least because it is free and therefore incredible value for money. Buy two coups of tea, and you can easily spend a couple of hours in the museum and have change from a fiver. You will see films of how the slate was quarried over a 100 years ago, can visit the quarrymen's houses going back a century and a half to see how they and their families lived, visit the workshops and see a demonstration of slate being spit and made into perfect roofing slates. An excellent 2 hours visit for families and couples wishing to step back in time and see some of our industrial heritage. If you're visiting Llanberis, visit the slate museum, all it costs is your time.
