“loved the beer and the staff!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2009

I went to the Royal Oak with friends for lunch on a Sunday in January, not really expecting much, but to my surprise the food was superb but the highlight of my experience was the gorgeous male bar person who knew all about the beers on draught and suggested Hoeggarden with lemon for us to drink, the drink was lovely and he was absolutely delightful, very knowledgable and natural in his work and I would certainly visit again. Lovely guy, who was he????

Stayed here overnight with my teenage daughter during half term. We had a twin room in the Stables, which was huge, very clean & very comfortable. Dinner in the Stables bar was a bit hit and miss - they brought the wrong meal, and when the right one came it was ok but not great. The bar & waiting staff were lovely.
Breakfast was extra, & again was just ok. I had the 'budget breakfast' which looked as if the person cooking it couldn't really be bothered, the sausage was lukewarm, and the whole lot just slung on a plate.
Having said that, the main restaurant looked impressive, with an imaginative menu.
Overall, we enjoyed staying here.

This was the 4th time we stayed at the Royal Oak and as always the staff were helpful and friendly and the food was excellent. However, the heat in our second floor bedroom was unaccepable and meant that it was extremely difficult to sleep. We did ask at reception and they did turn the radiators off more or less but the room remained unbearably hot and stuffy. Our friends who were also staying in the hotel also had the same problem. Such a pity .

My husband and i stayed in this hotel for four nights.

I booked the room directly over the phone and later added an extra night by email. Everyone i dealt with returned calls and emails quickly and was more than helpful.

The room we stayed in wasdescribed as a 'superior' double, i felt it was more standard as was small and over looked the main road, also a little over priced for what it was. However, it was clean and pleasently decorated.

We always found a parking space in the car park across the road and found it easy to obtain a permit from the reception area.

We ate one night in the same place you have breakfast, and although breakfast was good the dinner was not. Appeared to be pre prepared and not very tasty. However, the people we met at the hotel said the main restaurant was much better. Unfortunately we did not get to eat there.

The location of the hotel is perfect for exploring Snowdonia's attractions.

I would recommend people stay here as the helpfulness of the staff and other benefits outweigh the few little niggles we had.

Stayed as a large family group for my parents golden wedding. Couldn't ask for nicer more helpful staff. Food was perfect, Service perfect and rooms clean and spacious. Rooms in the main hotel and stables lodge were very nice.
