“great pub”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

We stopped by for a quick drink in the beer garden and moved into the bar after several drinks. This is a nice little pub with really friendly staff and customers. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

We stayed there on a voucher. it was well worth the money and the area it is in was beauiful. the staff was friendly and helpful. we ate in the hotel on the 2nd night and the food was very nice. i would stay there again. my only complaint would be the rooms could have a better decor but that is my opinion.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2012

After completing the 3 peaks challenge we decided to go for a bunkhouse not too far from Snowdon. The Eagles was very clean and comfortable. Had a couple of cracking ales on tap. The only reason why it gets a 4 star rather than 5 is that they dont serve any food.

Very clean, very friendly, Cooking and toilet facilities excellent, free coffee tea milk and kettle in the rooms, Real ale in the bar what more could you want for £17 quid a night.
Obviously for all you wingers out there who are not happy unless your moaning. This is classed as a bunk house not a five star hotel, but it is real 5 Star value.

I can't wait to stay here for longer next time I'm in Snodonia

Lovely hostel, very clean, comfortable beds. Very well equipped kitchen for self catering. Nice homely feel.
Very warm and cosy stay. Good value for money.
We were looked after well by Michelle, lovely lady ( not the owner)
Would stay here again.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2012

A large group of us stayed here for one night before a day of mountain climbing. 'The Bunkhouse' offers mostly rooms for groups of people, but you can book an individual room if required. The room I stayed in had two bunk-beds, laminated flooring, tea & coffee making facilities and great views. There is a communal kitchen, which is well equipped. The accommodation is situated above The Eagle pub, which is mostly used by locals and the odd traveller. Food is not available in the pub, so make sure you either eat before or take something to cook. The nearest place to eat is Betws-y-Coed which is 4.5 miles away. (Great Fish and Chip shop)

Room Tip: Remember to take your own food

This is the second time of staying as group, we go for the scenic walks of Snowdonia. Fantastic friendly faces...both staff and members of the village community. Penmachno is a little out of the way, but that's what makes it.

It can be a little hectic when there is full occupancy, but that also adds to sociable atmosphere.

Wouldn't hesitate to recommend, a quality local pub with comfortable clean boarding.
