“Excellent food in Conwy valley”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2012

Went for Sunday lunch last weekend, 5 of us inc 2 children. All really enjoyed the food and service. My duck in plum/port was superb - duck is best I've had anywhere in UK or abroad for some time. Puddings also delicious - ginger pudding, chocolate brownie.
Excellent food in an area where that is often a rarity.

“Exceptional casual fine dining”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

We liked this restaurant so much, we ate here twice. The service, decor and atmosphere were great. So why not 5 stars? The 2nd visit wasn't as good as the first. Maybe we caught them on a bad night. We still enjoyed our meal the 2nd trip but the first trip was so outstanding that our expectations were high.
As others we loved the freebees. Not because they were free but because they were great. We also tried a chicken, leek and ham terrine with piccaliili from the specials board. It was my first terrine and I loved it. It was so good i came close to swooning (something quite out of character for me). We followed with our mains, pan roasted chicken, confit of roast duck, roast rack of lamb and fillet fo bacon crumb crusted salmon. I tried them all and they were all exceptional. We were not expecting fine dining just a good local meal. I think this was both. We finished with a chocolate dessert which i didn't write the name of (see photo) and the complimentary cookies. The desserts were plate licking clean which we might have done had we not been in such a nice restaurant.

“Good food. Bad cobwebs.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

Betws y coed offers little in the way of culinary delights. We went to the Bistro on a Friday night in October. The decor is quite dated and was shocked to see cobwebs on the ceiling and walls. Cobwebs at eye level is not good. The food was lovely though, with extra treats thrown in. We were seated in the side room and we felt forgotten about and isolated. Overall, experience not great but tasty food to compensate.

“Fab food!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

Amazing food and atmosphere - would recommend you book in advance as very busy. Very reasonably priced, menu not huge but I prefer not to have too much choice. Slow roast belly pork is a must!

“Tired and in a hurry!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2012

I popped in to the Bistro at opening time on a cold and damp evening. I had an excellent welcome.
Good choices on the menu, attentive and quick service, food was first class.
I would highly recommend.
