“Friendly, helpful, accommodating and fun!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2010

I recently booked the Vagabond for a corporate group who were attending a two day training course with us. The Vagabond was accommodating and flexible from the start, from changing dates, to arranging rooms, to cooking dinner. As soon as we arrived they bent over backwards to look after us and always had a smile whenever we asked for help or advice. They even allowed us to take over the kitchen one evening! The venue was personal, relaxing and well laid out which allowed for great evening discussions and a bit of a party. All in all, excellent. We'll definitely be back!!

The Vagabond hosted our programme for 2 nights and pulled out all of the stops to give our clients the best possible experience. Warmth, fun and a 'can do' attitude were their mantra and nothing was too much effort.

They handed over their kitchen for a night; cooked great food and ran the friendliest bar which the clients did not want to leave. And didn't until very late.

I could not have asked for a more fiendly, professional or flexible service and will definitely be bringing clients here again. It is rare to experience such intimate and exemplary service and with such a well located and equipped hostel, that put sit head and shoulders above the rest.

Thank you

Justin

What can I say about this wonderful place, well let me start by saying a big THANKYOU to Mark and Ed and to the rest of the guys there for such an outstanding weekend, It was as enjoyable as it was unexpected.

I travelled there with our Mountain Biking group the HOMBRES, fully expecting this place to be a functional place to rest our heads, have a shower and act as base for the second day of ouyr biking at the local Marin Trail, and in that respect it did not disappoint. The rooms were clean, the showers hot and there was a secure shed to lock our bikes in and a jetwash to hose them down with, everything you could ask for for 16 notes a night.

What really made the stay magical was the atmosphere, we had headed into the village for a bite to eat before heading back, to chill and head to bed. We had a beer in the bar and then got chatting to Mark and to Ed, and the girls from Widnes and the conversation, and the drinks soon began to flow. The night became such an enjoyable, organic experience and I can say that we have made some firm new friends. The evening ended later than we had expected but we would not have had it any other way, we were made to feel like part of the Vagabond Family, thanks to such wonderful hosts.

The next day we were treated to buffet breakfast (an extra fiver but well worth it) and were given contact details and details taken to ensure our safety out in the hills and mountains, to Mark the safety of his guests was paramount.

So to sum it up, would I stay there again? I'm tempted to move in permanantly, so good was our nights stay. Is it the ritz? no, its a clean, functional 16 quid a night bunkhouse, like it admits to being, but in its clean, comfortable modest heart, belies an atmosphere and friendliness that was simply priceless

And to say it again, simply, THANKYOU

Just returned form our 3rd family stay at The Vagabond and can safely say we love the place!! Travelled with 9 year old daughter, my Mum and sister. As usual we made full use of the well equipped kitchen to keep costs down by cooking our own dinner, in fact we even cooked for the managers Mark and Ed as they have always been so welcoming on our previous visits!!!

We have stayed in 3 different rooms at The Vag and have always found them to be spotlessly clean and very comfortable. On this visit there were a couple of other children of similar ages to my daughter so they watched TV in the lounge (a bit too shy and or cool to play any of the games available!). We have also visited when ours has been the only child but the guests are always friendly and we've never had any problems... she even learnt to play chess with another guest on one occassion!

Like other reviewers have said the showers are spotless and piping hot (you can obviously add cold, they're not out to scald you)! Free tea and coffee is a great touch and the breakfasts are cooked to order, big enough to fill a hungry man and great quality.

When visiting with my husband he enjoys a few pints of Vag Hag, the local Snowdonia beer whilst I take advantage of bringing my own wine and soft drinks for our daughter.

Now the reason for our return trips (we've already booked in for a weekend before Easter).... Mark and Ed are fabulous hosts, so welcoming, they take time out to speak with each group of guests and always remember you when you return. Nothing is too much trouble for them.

All in all, you really couldn't ask for more for your £21 per night... and remember, that includes your breakfast!

I absolutley loved The Vagabond, its clean and very comfortable. Mark and Ed the Managers are brilliant and very welcoming! Thoroughly enjoyed my stay there this weekend, and will be booking to stay again. At the end of the day it is a bunkhouse and you get what you pay for, if you want the ritz, book the ritz! I will certainly be returning!
