“Setting great, wardens not so great”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2013

The wardens and bathroom cleaning staff were less than friendly; an air of cold authority that I have never encountered in all my years of camping. At every other campsite I have used over the years I have had warm welcomes and wonderful stays. No idea what was going on with the staff here, but they certainly didn't meet the standard of their great setting. Cheer up guys!

Stayed here for 2 nights in our campervan. We had an electric pitch which was nestled in the forest and a great little spot with views of the mountains. A lovely stream runs through and the steam train hoots past every so often which you can catch from the site.
Facilities wise, well kept toilet/shower block but be warned the showers took 5 or 6 presses before getting warm! Laundry room with heated lockers for hire, ideal for drying boots etc. Shop was light on stock but there's a bus stop outside the gate and the village is quaint and busy.
Great place to base yourself for Snowdonia and to get back to nature in the forest. Not the place for people who like to keep their caravan floor spotless!

Beautiful setting in Beddgelert Forest, and close to the village. Ideal for campervans and caravans because the pitches and paths are well laid out with slate chippings making the whole site accessible and clean even during wetter months. There are also grass pitches for tents which looked fine.

The site managers could not be more friendly. We were offered walking advice and suggestions on places to visit. They were very kind and keen to help new guests.

Our old camper has no levelling features and we don't have ramps. It was a great relief to find lots of level pitches despite the whole site occupying an interesting layout in the undulating woods.

Beddgelert is just one mile away and an easy walk from the campsite. We walked back in the bark by torch light and the road seemed pretty safe. The Saracens Head pub is the first one you reach, after investigating the village we returned there because they allow dogs. The food and beer were great and we would definitely return. The forest walk into Beddgelert takes longer but the views are amazing.

Room Tip: The 'Select Sites' with bench table were a good idea and we would definitely book one if the...

Highly recommended if you are planning an outdoor activities holiday. Prices were reasonable and although at the height of the season pitches were available, however do try to pre book as they fill up fast. Facilities were good but low on staff for the turnover of campers using them. A good all round family Holiday destination, and no use for modern technology as there is no signal, good to get back to basics.

Set in the Beddgelert Forest among 70 hectares of lush green conifer and broadland trees, the campsite is within walking distance of Snowdon. This campsite really is a special place that provides a truly authentic, back to nature, camping experience. Approximately 20% of the National Park is specially designated by UK and European law to protect its distinctive wildlife. Found in the arctic conditions of the high peaks, the precious Snowdon Lily is unique to Snowdon, as is the Snowdon or Rainbow Beetle. Another unique creature is the Gwyniad which lives Llyn Tegid - the largest natural lake in the Park. A sub-species of white fish, the Gwyniad was trapped in the lake at the end of the last Ice Age over 10,000 years ago. The Colwyn River runs right through the heart of the forest campsite and is a welcome refuge for a rich variety of animal and plant life including species of otter and trout. Walkers can follow the footpath along the banks of the Glaslyn River to Beddgelert's most famous historic landmark, Gelert's Grave. The nearest supermarket is approximately 9 miles away, as is the nearest Leisure Centre. Dogs are welcome on this campsite and there are toilets and showers. There is also a useful shop selling groceries and camping equipment.
