“Gorgeous Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2013

Such a nice place for an evening meal or afternoon snack. Brilliant location in Red Wharf Bay with agood outside seating area. Upstairs is lovely for a dressy up weekend meal out and if you get a window seat you'll have great views out to sea.

“Average And Overpriced”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2013

We spend a lot of time in Anglesey and have eaten in most of the restaurants and pubs in Benllech and Red Wharf Bay, but our first visit to The Old Boathouse was disappointing and I wouldn't rush back.
The location is superb, as it was a pleasant day we chose to sit outside, and were told as we were sitting outside we had to order at the bar. There was a group of 6 of us including 2 children, and whilst the food was OK, portions are small to average, it is massively overpriced.
One dessert was priced at 6.50, which consisted of a piece of fruit, some ice cream and cream.
In addition upon returning to where we were staying I noticed, two drinks we had ordered, half pints of lager, had been charged at 2 pints, at £3.90 a pint this is extremely expensive. Clearly a mistake, but it shouldn't have been made.
Location nice, food average, food and drink overpriced.

“Excellent food - service could be a little better”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2013

The food was lovely but we had three courses and we were in and out within the hour, it did feel that they wanted the table so the food was some what thrown at us. As soon as we ordered the starters arrived so I expect they are prepared before hand. It was a very busy night but the service was a little strange, you had to order two courses with one person and then they would not taking your pudding choice so you had to find another person. I have been going on and off for years although we will definitely go back I think a bit more communication between staff would be better and a little more time between courses.

“Great place for family dinners”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

We eat here a couple of times a month for early (ish ) dinner with our young son and find that the food is reasonably priced with large portions. It is not fine dining but there are plently of options to suit most palates. I love the location and the view and really love the fact that we can sit outside with our dog (weather permitting) to eat. The staff are in the main very good although some can be forgetful and you do have to make yourself known on occasion. We have been for lunch a few times also and afternoon coffee and cake and have not had a bad experience. My only gripe is that you cannot book a table unless there are more than 6 of you which is not ideal with children as you can end up waiting a while in the evening if its busy.

“Lovely setting and food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2013

Very busy restaurant. We were lucky to get a table outside with our dog. OH had steak pie and said the meat was gorgeous. I had the blue cheese and pear salad, which was really exceptional. They put on the outside parasol infra red heaters without our asking, and seem to care about their customers. The vegetarian main courses on the menu could perhaps be better, however - we don't all like pasta!
