“Reasonable Hotel in Beautiful area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013

We stayed in the cottage for 3 nights over the weekend. We were in the area for a wedding, so a number of rooms had also been taken up by wedding guests.

We had the Cottage, which was lovely. It was very clean and well kept, although fixtures and fittings appeared to be slightly dated. The only down side was, when the Sun came up, which was very welcome during our visit, you got up, because the light flooded through the Curtains.!!
The option of breakfast was available, however, at £8.50 per head, we decided to be economical, and provide our own.

Hotel staff were very friendly, and informative, providing us with local information to help us get the best out of our visit.

I was under the knowledge that we were getting a reduced rate, however at £160 per night, I believe this was excessive for what you got. I also had the chance to view the Executive room (£120) and standard (£85). Since this was the reduced rates for the room, I would be very reluctant to pay anymore.

The bar and restaurant looked nice, but were empty over the weekend, other than the wedding guests meeting on the Friday for a meal, which was reasonable 'Pub Grub'.

To conclude, for a 3 star, the Hotel was good, better than other 3 stars I have stayed prior, but slightly overpriced.

I would stay again, but, as other reviews have pointed out, only with some kind of Deal (groupon etc)

May we thank you for your recent valued comments, it is good to know that our staff and standards are appreciated. May we however take this opportunity to clarify some of your comments. You were mis-informed by the bride as no discount was offered as this has to be balanced with the fact that with all the guests being at a wedding at a different venue, this has an impact on our restaurant and bar sales, which is also the reson why we appeared quiet. The "Pub Grub" was dictated to us by the bride, she chose the menu and the price point, but having said this, everything was home made and we had numerous positive comments.

The hotel was extremely friendly, Neil, Diane and all the staff were really welcoming. The rooms were very clean and tidy. We were attending a wedding in Wales and nor knowing the area at all the staff were weel informed of where to go and see if we had the time. The hotel was recommended to us by the Bride and her Husband and we were very pleased with her recommendation. I would advise anyone going to Wales to go to the lodge.

Room Tip: rooms the the south side are quieter

Stayed for two nights in May. Our welcome and treatment throughout our stay could not have been more friendly and pleasant. As part of our social living deal we had a cream tea on arrival which was excellent and included a bottle of sparkling wine. Very enjoyable. The room was very clean and comfortable although perhaps a little small particularly the bathroom. The TV was also tiny. The bed was very comfortable and we had two excellent nights sleep. Breakfast was good quality and served promptly. On the second night we had dinner, again as part of our package, in honesty the only reason we didn't dine on the first night was because we were full from the cream tea! The food was from a limited menu but there was still plenty to chose from and it was very enjoyable. The dining room was very comfortable and a pleasant environment in which to enjoy a nice meal. All in all we had an enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: Probably best to buy an upgraded larger room

We booked "the Lodge" through Discover bookings and chose this Hotel as it was close to Holy Head where we catch the ferry to Ireland. The room had a very comfortable king size bed and the shower worked which hasn't been the case at some of our previous Hotels. We had a beautiful dinner - would recommend the shoulder of lamb. The service and hosts were very professional and friendly. Would recommend this Hotel if staying at Conwyn

My husband and I have just come back from a living Social weekend at the Lodge and it was lovely. We knew that we wouldn't get there until after 8 on Friday evening so I rang the Lodge and asked them if we could have a selection of sandwiches, once we had completed check in we were shown to our room and then went back to the bar, sat in front of a log burning fire with a drink and a fresh selection of sandwiches which were perfect. The room was lovely and clean, at Breakfast you ordered from the menu which also included vegetarian and was perfectly cooked. We had a meal on the Saturday evening which was also cooked to perfection. The Staff were very friendly and helpful and it was a lovely base to explore North Wales, I would recommend this hotel to family and friends

Well what an amazing welcome after a 3 hour journey took 5 through the snow all the way. Afternoon tea was wonderful, we made it last 2 hours, lots of lovely beautifully cut and filled sandwiches, 3 types of homemade cake, bubbly and tea all eaten by the lovely log burning fire. Room was spotless had all we required and loooovly and warm! Breakfast was yummy and the evening meal was something else, all home cooked food and the dessert was to die for. I would highly recommend this hotel, Neil and Diane were tops, thank you. Will be back.

Room Tip: We had the room with a super kingsize bed was wonderful and bath which was just what the doctor orde...

While the room we had was a little cold in the morning, the room was spotless, food was good and the service friendly and excellent. I would highly recommend this as a good base to explore Northern Wales.
