“4 Star plus”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2012

We have had many horrific experience's of B&B's over the years, and we promised never to use B&B again. But a sudden unexpected visit to Conwy facilitated a needed for an over night stay.
With great trepidation we booked The Bryn Derwen (What Luck) The owners were lovely. The room nice and clean, beds comfortable, breakfast very good, what more can we say Excellent all around. we will definately return.

This was our one and only experience in Wales and based on this we would highly recommend stopping in Wales for a wonderful vacation. Just happened to be in Conwy for their Bluegrass Music Festival which was also a great experience for us as we love our USA Bluegrass music!
This B&B was well kept inside and out and we couldn't have asked for better accomodations: location, room, food, friendly and warm hosts and guests for a good $ value.

we stayed for 2 nights on the 13th and 14th of july, we stayed in room 2 which was a lovely en suite double with tasteful decor and was extremely clean. The bed was a little hard, but some do prefer this so is not really a complaint. The views from our room were beautiful and we overlooked the gorgeous gardens with a lovely pond. The owners were very pleasant and as we arrived Andrew directed us to the car park and also offered to help with our luggage, very welcoming.
Breakfast was served in a very friendly manner and the food was cooked well and plentiful, in fact the cooked welsh breakfast was the best presented that i have had from a guest house and we would definately stay again.. will say though NOT suitable for disabled as on a steep hill but does have a handrail leading up the steps to the front door ..

4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2012 via mobile

Just had a quick one night stay to visit Bangor University (25 min drive away)
Parked at the bottom on the road although there is a carpark up the back. Beautifully kept front garden, although steep this means the house has lovely views when you get to the top. Owners friendly, walk into town 5 mins, breakfast hot, fresh and tasty (especially the bacon). The en-suite was "compact" but it had what we needed and the towels were lovely and fluffy. Would definately return for a longer stay.

A very steep climb to a pleasant, not too big, family run hotel where all is run quietly and smoothly. We stayed in the Compact Double at the top, a bit tight but it was good, with a reasonable sized window. The breakfast choices were very good as well as being tasty. A short walk across the road and through a park and you are within the walls of Conwy. We hope to return soon for another short break.

Bryn Derwen guesthouse was a pleasure to stay in. The house is located only a few minute’s walk from the centre of Conwy. It is outside the walls and so is that but more peaceful and quiet. It is on a hill over-looking the road and has great views. The owners are friendly and helpful. Our rooms was just perfect. I booked a compact double and was expecting something quite small but in fact, it was fairly spacious. The ensuite is small but perfectly adequate. The room was really tastefully decorated and was homely and comfortable. Luxury biscuits had been provided, along with water, mints, good quality toiletries, cotton wool and cotton buds; much more than in most four star hotels. On the first morning our room was refreshed and used items replaced even though we left later than the time advised on the accommodation information. There was a fantastic view from the room and it was nice and quiet for a good night’s sleep. Breakfast is all served by the owners which makes it nice and relaxing. The only thing I would say is that the latest serving is 9.15am so you might have to choose between a lie in or breakfast! All in all a perfect accommodation in perfect location. I would definitely recommend and stay again.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2011

Bryn Derwen is in a high elevated position, away from a quiet road. There are low steps and handrails from the bottom to the front door, my Dad is bad on his legs and managed this easily.
We had room 2 over looking the front of the property and my parent’s room 1 overlooking the back. Room 2 was nicely decorated in cream and browns, a little smaller than we had expected but it was well furnished, clean and tidy. It had the little touches; a flower in a vase, box of tissues, wine glasses. The en-suite was small but it was adequate. Room 1 was very much the same.

Bryn Derwen had lovely views, well kept neat gardens. 5 minute walk into Conwy, great location. Really cannot fault the B & B.

Breakfast was excellent; service was quick and served by the owner’s father who was a real gentleman. Toast and milk top ups supplied readily without asking.

We got what we paid for so we were pleased. My parents (70 & 65) gave Bryn Derwen 9 ½ out of 10 only knocking half a mark off for the little plastic pots of milk, my Dad would have liked a jug, I’m sure the owners would have supplied that had we thought to ask, nothing was a problem to them. In our Room 2 the curtain rail came off the window, we mentioned this and it was fixed straight away.

Yes we would stay again, it’s a nice B & B in a great location the only one negative is the parking. A small bay at the front of the hotel for 1 car, up a track to the back of the property where there are another 3 spaces. From the road you go up an immediate very steep hill, the car may crunch the ground, as ours did, due to the angle of the road to track but this could be so easily remedied by the owner by smoothing out that angle

All in all this is a first class B and B establishment at a very reasonable price. Excellent service with friendly hosts.

Room Tip: room 2, you can't go wrong
