“New Years Eve”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2014

Spent a wonderful evening at The Foxhunter on New Year's Eve. A fantastic four course meal cooked by Matt Tebbutt, which was stunning! All the staff were exceptionally friendly and polite and made the whole evening a complete pleasure. Thank you Foxhunter for a great New Years Eve treat.

“APPALLING!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2013

Dreadful service and cold food was experienced by us both at the Foxhunter which was booked to celebrate our 10th Wedding Anniversary. We waited 25 minutes before we had to ask for our order to be taken, and then my husband's main course was completely cold. To top it off, we asked for a glass of wine only to be told when my husband went to the bar, 'sorry I forgot'. We will never visit again and are only sorry that we didn't go to the Hardwicke as on previous occasions. I would give this restaurant a wide berth especially as even the lighting was literally on the blink!

“Excellent meal and unexpectidly easy to get a table”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2013

Decided to have a meal out locally and wondered where to go at short notice and realised it had been a while since we had eaten at the Foxhunter. Luckily the restaurant was quiet and we able to get a table. All 3 courses were without exception faultless - if I had to say something it would be the shoestring fries are more trouble than the worth of it! The ox tongue and scallops whilst it may seem an odd combination make excellent bedfellows served in a very tasty liquor. The rib eye steaks were cooked to perfection for both, and the puddings whilst very traditional IE Bread & butter pudding and a rice pudding formed the end of this exceptional meal. The next visit will not be too long

“Delicious”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2013

Team Foxhunter not only serve beautiful food but deliver excellent service in a perfectly comfortable and delightful pub setting. Lisa welcomed us like old friends, and made us feel totally welcome and immediately comfortable. We were extremely privileged to be staying at the cottage for a week of indulgence and be able to sample the absolutely fine food prepared by chefs Gareth and John alongside the owner Matt.
Our first visit was 6 years ago and awesome, and we were not disappointed at all with our 2nd. We splashed out on a weeks rental of the cottage with gorgeous log burner and booked in for Sunday lunch. Delicious. The best meal I have had for a very long time. The wine list is glorious, the food sublime and the cottage very comfortable. We ate again in the evening, totally different atmosphere and again, a sublime meal.
A really professional and talented team, with expert knowledge of their product and customer service that is second to none. Very highly recommend and I hope I do not have to wait another 6 years till my next visit.

“Game little restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2013

Matt & his wife Lisa provide a menu which includes game. Not the traditional menu with a token one item of game but a choice. The rabbit starter I had was perfect, followed by a main of pheasant. Absolutely divine. The wine list is a sight for sore eyes. Would very happily spend a week here ( rooms available but not seen ) indulging in gastronomic fare & imbibing in the glorious wine selection. A little bit pricy but you don't mind paying for quality. Looking forward to the next visit. Very highly recommend. 9.5 / 10
