Found this place on Trip Advisor when looking for a place to stay when working in Abergavenny Intending to stay for a night or two when the weather was bad and although I never write reviews I felt I had to share that it has been an absolute jewel of a find and a pleasure all round. The Guest House is spotlessly clean with friendly staff who not only serve you a terrific breakfast but actually are interested in making sure you have everything exactly as you want it. Jenny and Kevin are great and will go out of their way to make you feel at home and comfortable. The Guest House is so conveniently placed as there is always room to park and a good place to leave your car to walk into town which only takes minutes. Towards Christmas I would come "home" from work late on an evening and find as well as the usual tea, coffee, hot chocolate, soup, biscuits in the room there would be some chocolates on a tray which was so thoughtful but which no one ever mentioned. There are a variety of books in each room.....I have stayed in them all now as they have no chance of getting rid of us. When i was staying on my own and going to a business dinner one evening Jenny offered Kevin as a driver to take me there so I wouldn't have to fuss with a taxi and Kevin made sure I knew that he was there ready to take me so I didn't have to check, ask or feel awkward.....I thought this was so generous of them but that sums them up.....they put themselves out to make sure everyone is comfortable and as at home as you can be when you are away from home. This is a great place to stay and reasonable too. Just thinking perhaps I shouldn't have written this as everyone will be flocking there but in all honesty they deserve it.

Room Tip: Pick any one......

We were visiting Abergavenny to head out to the renowned Hardwick restaurant for a New Years Eve eat. The B&B was perfectly placed to pop into the centre of Abergavenny on foot (5mins tops) and was only a short 5min drive to The Hardwick.

The owners are wonderfully welcoming. Breakfast was excellent and came with all the trimmings. Rooms and shower etc. were spotlessly clean and warm.

Only (very minor) gripe was that we woke early due to the noise of the hens/chickens in the rear garden, though this was partly our fault for opening the window during the night. Their eggs, which we ate for breakfast the morning they were laid, were fabulous.

Highly recommended! :-)

We stayed here for one night in mid December and had a very enjoyable and comfortable night at the Abergavenny guest house. As mentioned in numerous other posts Jenny is a great host and makes you feel very comfortable. Jenny gave great advice on where to visit in the local area and her team provided a great breakfast including fresh eggs from the garden. Would recommend to others.

There was a smell from the bathroom and problems with parking. The fun and different environment though - domestic animals galore, good for the kids. Breakfast was good and home-made, which is a bonus. The location is not quite central, in case you like night life. Although not too bad, will probably choose a different place to stay for the next visit.

This was a great stop on our trip - we spent two nights at The Guest House. The welcome was so warm and Jennie provided us with some great information and suggestions on what to see and how to get there.

The breakfasts, with eggs from their own chickens and as fresh as they come, was wonderful. Have your eggs poached - the best we've ever had. Good coffee, juices, and all kinds of other yummy things including homemade jams.

The room was spacious and comfortable and the whole house is immaculate.

One word of warning - if you do not like animals, this may not be the spot for you. There are house cats - which are wonderful - and two parrots as well, not to mention the menagerie in the back yard. We loved it but might not be everyone's cup of tea.

The only other caveat would be that if you absolutely must have an Internet connection, you might have to use the communal sitting room (which is very comfy) since the wireless connection does not reach all of the upstairs bedrooms.

I highly recommend The Guest House and will stay there again on our next trip.

I have only said the Guest House is excellent because there isn`t a grade on the review, I would certainly have given it perfection if I could! When we arrived we immediately as if we were old friends, Jenny and Kevin made us feel so at home. Our room - Skerrid - was beautiful and clean and the little extras seemed never ending, dressing gowns were provided, there were endless tea bags loads of coffee, milk, sugar, hot chocolate and even packets of soup. Bottled water, wine glasses and a corkscrew were also provided. Everything you could possibly need was supplied in the bathroom and the lighting in the bedroom was excellent (normally you can hardly see in most of the places we have been). Now we come to the breakfast - oh wow - the jams, marmalade and bread are all home made and so are the eggs in a way as they have their own chickens so its freshly laid eggs every morning for breakfast! Everything is cooked freshly for you none of this food put in containers an hour before you and left until you come down AND the plates are red hot, well honestly I could go on and on about how great an experience it was but why don`t you go and find out for yourselves you won`t be dissappointed. When we left it was as if we had all known one another for years and we shall certainly be back. Thanks Jenny and Kevin for making our stay so enjoyable and we just know that your guest house will continue to be a great success while ever you two are running it.
