“great time at bouldering”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2013

Went to Aber Rocks as the usual one I go to was closed. Really enjoyed our visit. Lots of different problems, and several easier routes. They have a good cave area and several different overhangs. They have really made use of the space. The staff were friendly and were on hand for advice. Facilities include a cafe with homemade cakes, toilets, changing rooms and lockers. Really enjoyed the afternoon, will be visiting again.

“Fun afternoon adventure”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

Spent a great couple of hours here with some friends, most of whom were "climbing" or "bouldering" for the first or second time. (Bouldering is rock climbing, just without any ropes). The tuition and support offered by Huw was excellent - encouraging, knowledgeable and supportive without being patronising - a welcome attitude for a group of 60-somethings. Took us through the simpler "climbs" to more challenging routes, and its possible just to do what you're comfortable with. The floor beneath the climbing surfaces is covered with safety matting, but most of the group experienced some fear of falling as one gets higher. The exception was the "traverse" challenge around a square, which was low level, had extra floor padding and was very enjoyable!

Altogether a fun experience. No specialist equipment is required and special shoes are provided. Would definitely return for another attempt to improve.

Only criticism - the temperature was a bit too low for comfort and a few degrees warmer would have made it all the more enjoyable.

Tea and snacks were very welcome in the break!
