“A traditional old fashioned castle for you to explore.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2009

Definitely worth a visit, and is a bargain at only £4.95 for an adult ticket.

It is a 'proper' castle and a great place to explore, but is not suitable for anyone who finds steps tricky.

We spent a good couple of hours climbing up and down the towers, discovering 'secret' rooms and walking along the battlements.

“Great October 08”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2008

Dry windy cold day at the end of October. Castle looks spectacular from the outside and we were not dispointed once inside. My 11 year old daughter was not looking forward to visiting at all. However once insid we had a great time. There are loads of towers and spiral staircases to climb. This is great for the active among us but would be impossible for anyone who struggles with mobility. Within the castle is also a museum of a the Royal Welch Fusiliers. This was very informative with lots of display to view. To summarise this is a real stereotypical castle as kids see in books. Kids love climbing the turrets and running within the walls. The displays and history is there for the adults too. We paid £15 for a family of 4. It was a great 1 1/2 hours and we woulad have stayed loner had the weather been fine

“A cool day in Wales”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2008

Visited the castle for a day where Prince Charles was investituted. As it is on the water it was quite cool that day and we were bundled up tight. Gwynnedd is a pretty little town but as it was Sunday it was mostly shuttered up tight. There was plenty to do at the castle and plenty of historical information but check the weather before you go!

“A playground for the young at heart”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2008

Larger than it looks from the outside! Definately worth spending at least 1 hr here if you're interested in history. Love the fact that you can access all the towers, a bit of a workout for your knees but the views are worth it. We only spent 40 min. here but definately could've done with more time.
Worth the £5.50 entry fee!

“A highlight for any castle junkie!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2008

I found Caernarfon fascinating! Having previously lived in Germany for 3 yrs, I have visited many castles. This one is magnificent! I was in a guided tour group and our guide informed that the castle was built by Edward I, also known as Longshanks. Any Braveheart fans will recognize that name as the King of England who terrorized Mel Gibson and the lot in the battle for Scotland. Charles, Prince of Wales was invested here in 1969 and the large slate circle that was built for this ceremony still lays in the center of the castle grounds. History truly comes alive in this place. Being able to wander to your hearts desire and explore every nook and cranny was one of the highlights of my trip to Wales and London. There is also an interesting video presentation on the history of the castle.
