“Lovely Sunday lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013

Stopped off for a drink after visiting the Three Counties Autumn fair. Ended up eating a lovely roast beef and Yorkshire pudding lunch. The meal was cooked to perfection, hot with fresh vegetables and extra gravy. The roast potatoes were some of the best ever and it was only £7.95. Beautiful pub off the road....you could easily miss it, the gardens at the back go out to fields with horses in. The children enjoyed their food too.

“A good bank holiday lunch for 8 adults & 10 kids.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013 via mobile

We pre-ordered all the main courses and were served quickly with good quality food (stick to home cooked items). Kids all had ice cream although mix up with portion sizes & coffees for adults (not the best - although refunded on bill). Overall a good venue in garden and good food.

“Warm evening, frosty welcome”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2013

Our first visit to the Old Bush will be our last. We arrived to be greeted by a lady who's expression oozed 'oh no, not more people' - (Recession? What recession?). She sort of pointed us to a table and that's the last we saw of her all night.
The ales were very good (the only plus point) and then we looked at the menu which took us only a few seconds as the choice was pitiful. I had fish cakes which were bland to say the least and the others in the party were all mightily underwhelmed with theirs.
The plates were taken away and we wondered if the sweet menu would be forthcoming. Alas, no. We and the other tables in the restaurant who had reached the same stage of their meal waited, and waited, and waited, until the diners just got up and left. We joined them. It seemed that the Old Bush advertises sweets but actually don't encourage you to try them.
To cap it all it took another 15 minutes to pay the bill (we were the only party at the bar) as the guy in charge found a very complicated method in working out what we owed.....

“It pains me to write a bad review but.....”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2013

It genuinely pains me to write a bad review of The Old Bush. The landlord and landlady are very friendly and make you feel so welcome and you can clearly see they are working extremely hard to make the business work. However, you can’t go charging gourmet food prices for ordinary pub food and expect people to return. Sadly we will not return there again now.
They are still trying to finish modernising the pub and obviously hit upon the idea of overcharging on the food to pay for it but £11.95 for fish and chips when the chips are catering chips, not even homemade ones is not the way to go in my opinion. Even £11.95 for fish and homemade chips is still crazy!
Sorry to write a bad review but you really need to look at the price of the food v quality of the food if you want regular diners like us to return.
