“My first visit, but not my last”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2013

We called in for mid-morning coffee and decided to come back later for lunch. Lucky for us we booked a table because when we went packed it was packed. The place had a real buzz about it and the food was so tasty and very reasonably priced. Was also impressed with the service-the staff were attentive and helpful. Loved the food and will hopefully be back there soon maybe for an evening visit. But book first as i don't think you would get in otherwise.

“Great coffee and food, shame about the cigarette smoke”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2013 via mobile

Paid a visit here on Saturday morning. It looked very inviting with tables neatly set outside the front. We ordered from the breakfast menu, service was pleasant and prompt. Had the eggs benedict which was £6.50, sounds quite expensive, but it was a really good plateful and was good value. Double espressos were £2.10 and excellent. The only thing that spoilt the visit was a policy that allowed smokers to light up on the outside tables. As the tables are in close proximity we had clouds of cigarette smoke wafting over us from the 4 smokers on the table behind us. Guys you need to ban the smoking or properly segregate the area.

“Attentive once you browse the shop on quick exit out !!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013 via mobile

Summers day lunch ..... No sea food at all ;( so had pick and pick again ! Our server was good just couldn't come up with anything on the menu , not her fault , by then had ordered wine etc so felt should sit it out . Had left going here til now so anŷ teething probs would have been sorted out . Wine was good and chilled but sorry people its not just about the shop and strutting around sort it out !!!! Also I'm not a dude or a chap please learn some manners I think Antonio would be shocked .... Or is it the state of care in a commercial franchise .....why was it no-one cared until we looked around the shop !! Then we were the most important Chaps in the world ! Good luck ..

“Like being back in Italy.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013

I came into Carluccio's on an evening and was amazed by everything! I had booked by phone, then i checked some of the reviews online and i couldn't believe it. Most of the poor reviews clearly have no Idea what they are on about, But each to their own.
We have been to Italy numreous times and felt like we were transported back there the minute we saw the restaurant!
Me and my partner had some nice breads and olives for some nibbles while reviewing the menu, we then ordered some delicious sounding pasta's and garlic bread. The food was ready in no time at all and the portion sizes were very generous. The service was very prompt, efficent and friendly. The Penne Luganuca and Seafood Pasta were exceptional! Definately prepared with care and passion, like you would get in Italy. Afterwards we had a rich espresso and a nice Latte.
Overall we enjoyed our visit loads and like our Italian holidays - we'll be back.

“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2013

We called into Carluccio's last week in the afternoon We ordered a salad with Gorgonzola cheese & bacon .
When it arrived there was THREE SMALL peices of cheese with some bits of bacon that were not very good either they were cold & crisp not what you would expect there was plenty of salad leaves but no cheese to talk of.
We have had the same salad in the Dubai Airport which is a Carluccio's & there salad with Gorgonzola is 100 times better!!! Why cant this place make a simple salad & put enough cheese /bacon in it to warrant the cost i THINK ITS A POOR SHOW yet another establishment serving up third class food & charging first class money.. the service was just as bad had to wait then was just pushed onto table & waiter left.. This is a very poor restaurant charging good money for pathetic food . Dont waste your money go & buy a salad & do it yourself.....
