“Great short break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2013

Lovely cottages in stunning, quiet location. Owners very helpful & full of knowledge of local area & fun things to do. Well stocked shop on site came in very handy during our stay. Cottage was very well equipped. Enjoyed our stay very much and would certainly visit again!

We stayed as B&B guests for two nights, our second year of staying at Hidelow for the Malvern Spring Flower Show, and on this occasion we were delighted to have been allocated a bedroom in The Cider House, complete with a very comfortable four-poster bed. Total cleanliness and comfort, great attention to detail by Pauline and superb breakfasts. Would recommend this accomodation to anyone. We will be back....God willing!

Room Tip: They are all good.

Every so often you find a place that ticks all the boxes for you, Hidelow Lodge is my place. It is oh so quiet with lovely views from the garden or spacious lounge. The flat level shower room, use of equipment to aid disabled visitors, helpful owners and eco ethos are great.I have stayed a number of times over the past 8 years and have always had a great time as I can relax knowing my disability is no barrier .Pauline does delicious meals and there is an on site little shop with local food if you forget something .Worcester, Hereford Ledbury,Tewkesbury,Malvern,Elgar's birthplace,Pershore, craft shops, coffee shops....there's lots to do.The owners are great, helpful but not obtrusive I'll be booking again .Highly recommend.

I visited Hidelow House at the beginning of March while I was working at the Malvern Gardening Show. I booked the very spacious Hopbine Cottage. The cottage is a huge studio apartment in a very quiet location under the main house. The four poster bed is lovely and comfy and the cottage has been well thought out, Pauline and Stuart have thought of everything, I really couldn't think of anything else I could have needed for my stay. The hot tube was great and very much needed after a day on my feet. The hot tub is under cover so it doesn't matter if it rains, (which it did when I was there) and has beautiful views over the hills and gardens. As I was working I has a huge van and Pauline went out of her way to make sure I had a big parking space in which to park the van each night, not being the best driver this was perfect. The complex has an small honesty shop which stocks local produce and Pauline’s homemade meals. One night I treated myself to a very reasonably priced bottle of wine and one of Pauline’s steak and ale stews... it was delicious. The cottages are very eco-friendly which was lovely to see, every last thing is recycled and even leftover food is given to the worms. The location is easy to get to and yet in the middle of nowhere at the same time, a great location for a holiday. I would love to visit again in the future and actually get to explore the stunning area. Pauline and Stuart make very welcoming hosts and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

We had a family get-together over the May day bank holiday weekend, there were 10 of us and we booked the Cider House. The accommodation was very good and included a ground floor bedroom and bathroom which was useful as one of our party is disabled. The trip was somewhat marred however by the owner. The list of do's and don'ts especially with regard to the spa pool was excessive and the owner was unwelcoming and a little intrusive. The spa did indeed break down during our stay and we were left feeling that we had done something wrong (we hadn't). Our party was arriving from all over the country & the fact that we had 5 cars also presented much angst for the owner and again we were made to feel bad about this. On leaving we were not asked if we had enjoyed our stay and not thanked for our custom. Also beware the term 'up to 10 days' to receive your security deposit back - mine took 14 days with no warning that this would happen. A nice cottage that could be fantastic..... if the owner would realise that her customers were on holiday and did not want to be faced with problems, - we wanted to get away from it all.

Well, we can’t please everyone all of the time………

Parking: We were fully booked that weekend and we had to ask guests with several cars to park as close to their own cottage as possible, so as not to intrude on the space outside other people’s cottages.

Hot Tub issues: With 4 hot tubs, we are experienced providers of hot tubs for guests to use on holiday. We are acutely aware of Legionnaire’s Disease issues surrounding their use and consider we act responsibly in the interests of all guests who wish to use them. This includes giving users advice sheets and talking to them on arrival about how to use their hot tub hygienically. Is this the intrusiveness referred to?

It was unfortunate that on the 2nd day of this party’s visit the Cider House hot tub broke down; it was nothing to do with anything they had done and it broke down without warning; it was initially usable but it was noisy. As with all things that go wrong, we did our best to diagnose and solve the problem at the time (perhaps this was considered intrusive) but ultimately a critical part with which to repair it could only be obtained after they had left.

We are pleased these guests otherwise found the cottage comfortable and enjoyed their stay.

Another excellent holiday earliest we have been, but weather better.
Accommodation up to usual standard. Our dog Georgina loves walks with Ebony and Poppy.
Hope to be able to find vacant slot in late autumn after knee replacement operation.

Room Tip: The lodge is ideal for us with twin room with wet room. with large family room for our friend who do...

We often travel to the UK for a short vacation. We use Premier Cottages to find a weekly rental and they have yet to disappoint. Hidelow House Cottages was no exception. The Oast House was clean, comfortable and well equipped. It's in the quiet countryside, but there was plenty to keep us busy. One of our favorite excursions was a day trip to the Welsh coast. It's an easy 2 hour drive that is scenic all the way. Another highlight was an owl farm near Leominster with an incredible variety of species from around the world. And last, but not least, there are some great pubs in the area. Try the Live and Let Live and the Three Horseshoes Inn.
We didn't meet Pauline, but Stuart is a genuinely nice guy and very helpful with his local knowledge.
All in all, it was a great stay, and we highly recommend Hidelow House Cottages.
