“Amazing hospitality and amazing breakfast.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2013

This was our second time staying at Buttermilk. The room was bright and clean. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was amazing with such a variety of food to choose from.
Breakfast was served at a time of our choice. Martin and Caroline are very friendly and gave us names of lovely places to visit. We had a lovely time staying at Buttermilk.

Room Tip: The Blue room where we stayed had a small sitting room area where we could relax and have a cuppa.

We have stayed at Buttermilk and found all aspects of our stay to be of superior standard. We stayed on the Garden Room where it is a little taste of an English country garden. It is pleasant to wake in the morning to hear and see the birds in the garden. All facilities are in the room, with tea and home made cakes to enjoy. clean and comfortable, a cosy crisp clean bed. Nothing is too much trouble for Martyn and Caroline to make. Our stay comfortable. We will return for another visit.

Like others, we found Martyn and Caroline to be very welcoming hosts. Breakfast was massive, with lots of fresh fruit and figs from the garden. We were in the Garden Room, itself comfortable but with an en suite that was below the standard we expect - and have received in recent bed and breakfast establishments. The en suite is more like a lean-to addition with a transparent plastic roof and exposed rough timbers, plus many exposed pipes. It did not feel like part of the Garden Room at all. The £80 price for the night did not represent good value. We have paid less for better.

Room Tip: Choose a room in the main house rather than the Garden Room.

We can highly recommend Buttermilk. We stayed in the "garden room" with our dog Megan and were made so welcome. The best breakfast experienced in the UK and Martyn and Caroline made us so welcome. The room was extrememly comfortable and we were provided with tea and coffee making facilities as well as some delicious home made shortbread.

Booked for myself and my husband, and my 86 year old father. He has Coeliac disease and needs a gluten free diet - Martyn and Caroline went to a lot of effort to make him feel comfortable and provided gluten free toast and also some gluten free cakes for him to eat while we scoffed Caroline's wonderful fruit cake. Accommodation was lovely - comfy bed, lovely big bath towels, nice range of shampoos, shower gels etc, hot shower, and as others have said, the breakfast was lovely - so much to choose from and eminently flexible. Highly recommended - would definitely stay here again if we were in the area. Out in the country, yet only a few minutes from the M5 - perfect.

Can really recommend Buttermilk. Our room was very comfortable, and we were able to relax in the garden. There was a welcoming slab of homemade fruit cake in our room (delicious) and the breakfast was by far the best we experienced during our stay in England - a choice between a full English and continental breakfast, with plentiful fruit.

Room Tip: The Garden Room seems to be a good choice, as it leads directly into the garden.

Buttermilk was a welcoming haven for us after we fled a pretty average place and needed to find somewhere else to stay in a hurry. And haven it was indeed: Martyn, Caroline and Georgia the dog (not to mention the sterling hens out the back, source of glorious breakfast eggs) made us very welcome and were assiduous in ensuring that our stay was comfortable and enjoyable . Martyn even insisted on pressing a blanket on us to take to the cricket in Worcester. A blanket, we thought, ha ha. But it's summer. Yeah, summer in England, and Martyn was quite right.
The only reason that Buttermilk doesn't get the full five-star rating from us is that the shower in our bathroom was pretty dismal. Fix the dribbling, tragic shower, Martyn, and five stars (and more) will be yours next time we stay.
