“Film Set”

We could have walked onto the set of The Railway Children. So well kept and looked after. So good to see this station looked after so well.

“Unusual”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013

Tea rooms witrh an oldfasioned twist, just like they used to be. Good basic food and, as it is still a functional railway station, served quickly

“Quaint wrought- iron station decor sets the Great Malvern scene!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

Were your heart strings tugged by ' Brief Encounter'? Does your heart miss a beat when you see a wallpapered station cafe equipped with steaming cafetieres, and offering home-made cake? Then, you may choose to use the station's Lady Foley's tearoom for its nostalgic atmosphere. The good lady gave her name also to a large hotel which now houses a popular Wetherspoon's outlet, at the top of the town. The ironwork topping the station's pillars are brightly painted reminders of the period, too.
This station is not windswept and its waiting room is generally open. It has a machine for collecting internet purchased tickets, which is rather difficult to read in sunshine-so bring your spex. It sports a little used tunnel, to the Malvern Girls' college called 'the Worm', which used to keep travellers to the former Imperial hotel dry, in the Victorian era.
There is ample parking on BOTH sides of the station; at the front, there are generally three or four taxis available. There is a brilliant newsagents' and sweet shop at the top of the station road, for your journey's needs. The ticket office is efficient and helpful, whenever it is open. At off- peak times, you can book local trains instantly for cash or card, via the platform machine.

An added frisson may include bumping into a well- known face - an actor appearing at the Malvern Theatres, Grange Road. Sadly there is, as yet, no direct bus service to the theatre, but it is about 1/2 mile walk up Avenue Road to the theatre, via Priory Park

“Lovely station and great cafe - Lady Foley's tearooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012

The cafe on the station with homemade cakes and other goodies is definitely a must - even for just a coffee.
