“Good Choice for the Theatre”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2013

We had booked a package (hotel - The Abbey - Seats to see Barbara Dickson one night and Twelve Angry Men the next day matinee) so we thought we would try Scene (it was November and the less walking between hotel, restaurant and theatre was in order). The staff were extremely pleasant, and the food (for the price) was excellent. There was a reasonable choice and the house wines were inexpensive and really good. Service was good (none of the "is everything alright" every 5 minutes which many restaurants are guilty of) but tables cleared and food served in good time. Table was cleaned and fresh glasses provided for us to finish our wine during the interval. All in all a very pleasant start to the "culture" weekend. Both BD and TAM were excellent!

“Bland bland bland and a laughing waitress”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2013

Bad news, visited on first night of "new menu". Service was very slow and food was terrible with no actual taste at all. We were assured that all the dishes had been tried out, but to us it was an evening to forget.

Cancelled the next nights booking. To end" the experience" when the desert eventually arrived, the ice cream was melting (assumed it had been sitting around in the kitchen), on complaining, the waitress thought it funny.

We did not. At present avoid this restaurant !

“Great Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2013

I visited this restaurant on the 3rd October 2013 pre to going to the Theatre.
We were greeted at the desk and shown to our table. The menu specials were relayed to us, alongside reccommendations from the menu. I opted for the British Beef Burger and all the trimmings. Our order was taken and in due course the food arrived as they knew we were attending the theatre.
The food was very nicley presented and tasted lovely with plenty of flavour.

“Unexpected”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2013

Visited prior to seeing a play at the theatre. Whilst we turned up late due to traffic delays, not a problem and we received a friendly greeting. We were as a consequence a little short on time, but our order was taken quickly and the food came in plenty of time. We only had time for one course but well presented and reasonably priced. Restaurant was very busy and we were impressed with the surroundings and staff. Will be quite happy to return.

“Quick & convenient for theatre”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2013

We visited this restaurant on Monday 23rd, the same night as the previous reviewer. We found the staff to be charming, the menu quite plentiful and the food itself when it came was just what we were expecting. The slow cooked brisket cottage pie was delicious and my husband also enjoyed the cod. We were very pleased to find that we could also order our interval drinks and have them left in our places in the restaurant for us, so no hunting around wondering whose was whose. We shall definitely be back.
