“A really rewarding place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

Lowerfield Farm B&B is a must if you're looking to stay in the Cotswolds. A lovely conversion of a 16c and Victorian building giving very comfortable rooms, excellent guest areas, lounge, dining room, etc. Free wi-fi around the building. A very warm but relaxed welcome and a breakfast worth travelling for. Highly recommended.

We spent two wonderful days at Lowerfield Farm. We are two families (4 adults, 4 children) and no effort was too hard to find us a nice restaurant for dinner. The B&B is very nice (maybe a little fresh in some rooms), clean and Sue is a very nice host. Breakfast was really good with a nice choice for variation. The B&B is very well situated to visit the Cotswoids and make some very nice walks in the area.
We will come back!

We arrived late but at the pre-arranged time. Our room was ready and no lengthy formalities concerning booking in were observed save signing in. Instruction on the local area was thankfully brief as all we wanted to do was change and find a restaurant. The recommended eatery was excellent. The room was totally beyond belief! Clean, fresh, quality furniture, a sumptuous and huge bed that despite initial misgivings concerning how very soft it seemed, was just so comfortable we both slept extremely well. Far better than most any other place I've stayed! Try to get the room with the double-aspect over surrounding countryside, stunning view, huge warm room. Breakfast is worthy of comment by way of quality and quantity. The full English(local or home-grown sausages, bacon, duck and chicken eggs naturally) was excellent, but also was the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on bagels, as were the beautifully light american-style pancakes and syrup, many american diners could learn a thing or two here! The thing that stands out in my mind from our trip I think, is the Honesty Bar! Our hosts have gone to the trouble and expense of acquiring a Drinks License, and have a small but very well stocked bar. As the farm is some distance from the nearest town, driving is essential; so to be able to just pop down to the Honesty Bar and help oneself to a nightcap or two is such a good idea it's surprising it's so rare. One merely helps oneself and writes in the book what has been taken. It's added to the bill at the end of your stay and is surprisingly reasonably priced. Apparently, and quite rightly, this service is not abused and as such remains on offer. Quite a beautiful touch, but then one has to remember that Lowerfield is someone's home, why abuse their hospitality? Rooms were cleaned during the day, re-stocked with tea/coffee, and some rather good home-made lemon sponge appeared for a light snack when we returned for the evening, I can only imagine Sue or Gareth had been baking and thought we'd like some. All in all I can not fault the place, the hosts are incredibly efficient and organised, friendly but not obsequious, an absolute pleasure. We have need to return to the area shortly, we would not even entertain thoughts of staying anywhere else.

Room Tip: First floor, double aspect room giving wonderful views over the area

A great starting point for our holiday, well situated in the the Cotswolds within easy driving of all the sights. Sue was a great hostess even pointing out a few sights to see and she also gave us a brochure they made up of some local sights which included directions and a planned route.

The room was fantastic spacious and had everything we needed for our stay. The breakfast alone is worthy of the 5 stars especially the full English, nice to see they use locale produce including from their own farm. Definately would visit again and highly recommend.

We have just had a fabulous New Years break at Lowerfield Farm with our twins and three other families. We were a group of eight adults and eight children (all under 5) and couldn't have been made to feel more welcome by Gareth and Sue. Nothing was too difficult for them from providing us with a microwave to cook meals for the children to recommending a lovely takeaway for our New Years meal. The breakfasts are amazing with a wide choice and the children now demand Micky Mouse pancakes like the ones cooked for them by Gareth. The house is in a really peaceful setting with lovely views and the children really enjoyed visiting the animals especially the pigs and the goats. Our group has already booked in again for New Year 2013.

We stayed here for a short break before Christmas to visit the near by markets and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location and house itself is stunning, as is the cooked breakfast which included home baked bread and their own eggs and bacon. Would definitely recommend and go back.

We stayed for a short post-Christmas getaway at Lowerfiled Farm. It’s a wonderful place to stay; cosy, tranquil and with lots of character. Our room, Milkup, has a gorgeous four poster bed and a quaint feature are the exposed wooden beams. It was clean, comfortable, warm and cosy. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom had a spacious bath with perfectly hot water (really hot – just what you need after a rainy day walking!). The tea tray was generous.
The breakfast was 5* - more than generous, really tasty and filling (we easily skipped lunch as we were still full right through to early evening!) There was a wide choice, everything was clean, fresh and well presented.
Gareth and Sue were very friendly and welcoming. Clearly a lot of thought has been put into the service offered to guests with many extra touches provided such as DVDs to borrow, board games, an honesty bar and local info leaflets. It’s a perfect place for a quiet cosy break. As regular Cotswolds visitors we will definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Milkup - cosy and full of character
