“Birthday celebration”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2012

Have just spent a 2 day break at this wonderful hotel in the lovely village of Broadway. There were eight of us on a "Birthday celebration" and the staff were so accommodating and helpful in every way. The rooms were lovely and all the lounges had wonderful open fires. Two of the ladies in our party enjoyed some pampering and champagne afternoon tea in the Spa and thoroughly recommended it. We did lots of Christmas shopping in the lovely shops in Broadway whilst the men played golf at the local golf club. We will definitely be back.

Just spent a two day break at the hotel, beautiful setting and very polite and helpful staff. Open fires, cosy corners, four poster bed - everywhere lovely and clean. Ate at Goblets next door to main hotel, well presented and good food. Breakfast at the hotel was good, lots of choice, service good.

We just loved every minute of our stay in this beautiful hotel and village. Our room was in the oldest part of the hotel, 550 years old. We were so comfortable in the four poster bed and the room oozed character. It was very clean too.
The fires blazed in the reception rooms, creating a wonderfully warm atmosphere. The food was imaginative, well cooked and beautifully presented and very good portion sizes, too.
We noticed the staff genuinely seemed to enjoy their work and were very helpful indeed.
We loved Broadway so much we did not use our car which made a relaxing break.
The walks from the village are simply stunning!
The village has good shops with a friendly approach to visitors.
To stay in such an historic hotel of this standard is never going to be cheap - but we thought our break worth every penny. We very much hope to return soon.

Stayed with girlfriends on a spa break. The deal itself was very good as it included dinner and 2 treatments. The rooms were nicely decorated and had everything you needed. Except we couldn't get hot water from the shower the whole time we were there, only tepid. The pool area certainly needs some TLC. The pedicure and manicures were ok, nothing special in fact my friend had to re-do hers when she got home as it didn't look very prefoessional at all.
Dinner was quite good although the plates were enormous. Not sure why they have a Sommelier as he offered no assistance or information and once the wine was opened we never saw him again!
Breakfast was delicious and the staff were encountered very pleasant. Such a lovely hotel in a pituresque position it's a shame more isn't made of it.

This was our third or fourth visit with friends, over a number of years. This time it looked and felt special. We had a pleasant room which was as clean and well put together as it should be. The plumbing was good all staff friendly and receptive. Breakfast was good, we appreciated the plated meals rather than buffet: dinner was superb, very friendly staff who laughed at our jokes - always very pleasing. The food was very, very good.

Stayed in the Lygon Arms at the beginning of November. The hotel was very warm but disappointingly hardly any of the fires were lit. We stayed in an upgraded room in the old part of the hotel and it was gorgeous. We ate in the the hotel twice in the evening and dinner was excellent. Breakfast is not so good the fruit is all out of tins, and I have never had stranger scrambled eggs, even the coffee was cold.
The Spa is lovely and I had the best facial ever.
Its a nice hotel but its not cheap and for the money they need to address breakfast

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the old part of the hotel

We stayed over October 2012 half term and took our 2 girls. It was fantastic to arrive with our children after first discovering this hotel when we first met 16 years ago. The hotel still retains such a cosy luxurious atmosphere, we loved the huge open fire. The new reception area is very regal and nicely done. We were upgraded to a suite in the new extension near the car park but the room was beautifully put together, sumptuous bed, beatuiful view of garden from bathroom. The room had stylish furniture, 2 flat screen tvs, the girls' beds had lovely soft sheets, gorgeous bathroom, 2 sinks a bath and a separate waterfall shower....perfect! The best night's sleep in a hotel I've had for a long time. We all tried the pool, slightly cold for us, steam room and sauna excellent. Didn't get time for a doubles tennis match! The breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Tiny complaint in that on ordering second coffee pot it too was not very hot. The Great Hall felt amazing to breakfast in! Our car was valet parked on arrival...and parked in the Helipad...as you do! Broadway is such a pleasure to visit, you just feel privileged to be there. We looked in on the museum next door. We did an OS walk through the spectacular Snowshill after check out on a beautiful sunny day. I would recommend this hotel, it was a delightful experience.

Room Tip: Rooms are all so different, have a look first!
