“Very convenient!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2013

Windsor – Clarence Hotel

Right at the centre of where you need to be; if visiting Windsor for the obvious attractions. Reasonably priced, although, if travelling by car, arrive as early as you can to claim the limited parking places. Very clean, very obliging staff, whom at times appear to be stretched. Ground floor bedrooms are larger if staying longer. Good breakfast with plenty on offer. I recommend.

The hotel is conveniently located, just a couple of blocks from the main tourist attractions, with a very convenient car park on the premises. The rooms are small but clean and quiet at all times. The hotel staff is very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was plentiful and very tasty.

I paid £64 a night for a 2 day stay. I wasn't happy. The room was very squashed with 1 big double bed taking up most of the room . The only place to put things on was the bedside table and a chair. The bin in the bathroom was still full from the last guest and there were a hairs in the shower. The bathroom surface had also not been wiped. There were no hooks for towels. Also in the website it said there was parking but when I got there, the spaces [only 4 of them ] were full and I had to park a few streets away. However the people were friendly and the breakfast was ok. I probably would not stay again

Room Tip: Don't come by car! Don't expect they will have a veggie breakfast if you haven't mentio...

This was a fantastic find. We were lucky enough to get a parking space at the front and received a very warm welcome. The rooms are small but fine for a two night city break. The whole place was very clean and the staff excellent. Breakfast was a real treat, cooked to order and nice local produce. The only down side is the aircraft noise, but you can not get away from that in Windsor, so if you are a light sleeper, take ear plugs..

We decided to call in and see our daughter on our return from holiday as she is studying at Royal Holloway. We thought that after a beautiful cruise, a stay in a hotel would be disappointing. We were further concerned because be booked at short notice ie 8pm the night of the stay. What a wonderful surprise. Our room a lovely, the staff were friendly and the breakfast tasty. We have stayed at a number of locations in the area and this has been the cheapest and the best so far.
Thank you for a pleasant stay

A pleasant stay for two nights. Nice to be in a non generic chain hotel. The staff were friendly polite and very overworked!
We were given a front door key for late entry. Parking is limited to 4 spaces, we were lucky to be there early enough to save £11 per day in a nearby multi storey car park.
Breakfasts were very filling.
All the rooms are different as the building is listed. Also small but very comfortable beds!

We stayed in Room 24 (of 25) which has two single beds and a double bed in it which meant when we were in it (3 adults), there was no room left! The en-suite has a fire exit door to a fire escape. Hot water was hit and miss which meant the shower was not a good experience. This is really a glorified B&B at best.
Parking should not be advertised for this Hotel as there is only four spaces and 25 rooms! Parking in the multi-storey nearby is £11.00 per day.
The worst thing though was breakfast. The Hotel only has a breakfast window of 1 1/4 hours e.g. 0800 - 0915 and there were only 2 women trying to service the breakfast room (one of whom was also manning the Reception Desk). The result - long waits for a table, hot glasses for fruit juice (if there were any available), frantic scrabbling by staff to keep people happy and failing, shortage of milk, condiments etc and long waits for food. Not the leisurely start to a day we wanted.

Room Tip: Don't go above the first floor.
