“Oakley Court”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2013

We stayed here for business as it is quite close to the office.
We knew that it would be an interesting stay when the cab driver from Windsor station told us that it was the setting for Rocky Horror and "quite creepy". Wrong.
It is a delightful old manor house with an amusing history. It was used as the set for Rocky Horror and dozens of other B or less movies.
It quite well refurbished and exceptionally well maintained.
The staff are remarkably friendly and helpful. If it is warm enough, a wine on the lawn near the Themes is wonderful.
The workout room is much better than most hotels with a huge range of options for both classic machines and functional workouts. I probably wouldn't join it as a health club (an option for locals) but I loved it as a traveler.

Room Tip: There aren't many in the original house, but they would be remarkable.

Yes, a real castle, movie set and right on the Thames - enchanting and brillant. Wonderful rooms, beautiful grounds, fairytale looks and feel! Charming rooms, the feel of real English Lords and very good food and what more could you ask for? About 20 min to Heathrow and perhaps 10 minutes to the races and Ascot! Very good service and just a special way to begin or end a trip if not more. You'd expect Errol Flynn, David Nivin or Cary Grant to meet you in the parlor for drinks - or a day at the races!

Room Tip: Ask for a river view.

The venue was fantastic and the food we had was beautiful. If you have a big party make sure that you request for the bar to be open late as they tried to shut the resident bar with over 30 people in it. The conference staff were great and really helped with the organising of the whole event.

We stayed here for a friend's birthday bash. After enjoying a couple of rounds on the flat, but tight 9 hole golf course we were treated to a super private dining experience where nothing was too much trouble. Our room in the main house was full of character with a view over the Thames.

Dear HesitantTurtle

Thank you for posting your review following your recent "friends birthday bash" celebration stay.

I am delighted that you were all able to enjoy playing golf during your stay and that the celebration dinner was a great success.

Next time consider staying with us for your own personal birthday celebration.

what a lovely hotel the Oakley court is. Just arrived home from our weekend away(birthday treat)
The room was in the west wing with a river view FANTASTIC. The room was large and clean with all the facilities that you would need. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis breakfast was basic and as previously mentioned there were no mushrooms but we asked the waiter and he got us some. Dinner in the main dining room was disappointing I had chicken breast with herb butter that's all the description on the menu said it but it came with what I think was pea risotto it had no flavour only very salty. No one came and asked if our meals were ok. The next night we ate in the lounge off of the bar menu it was great we had gnocchi, potted duck, bread basket and rump steak with chips all fantastic great meal. We will definitely return to Oakley court it is a wonderful hotel.

Room Tip: the west wing is great easy access to the main hotel its quiet and has fantastic views of the ground...

Dear Cherylhessex

Thank you for providing feedback following your recent stay at the Oakley Court Hotel.

I was pleased that your bedroom was "FANTASTIC", especially highlighting our cleanliness as this is something we pride ourselves on around the entire hotel. I have noted your breakfast & dinner comments within our restaurant. It was good to read that we were able to meet your expectations in our lounge areas and that your meals here were also "fantastic" - we clearly just need to work on our restaurant standards - thank you for taking the time to share your experiences with me, as it is the only true way I can make the required changes to further improve our guest experiences at the hotel.

Kind Regards

The hotel is in a lovely location next to the river. The rooms are spacious with large beds. Service is very good, staff are relaxed and friendly.

Unfortunately the hotel is really let down by the quality of the restaurant. Not only is the food not good, but the prices are high, particularly for such poor food.

Stay at the hotel, but eat out - we had a fantastic lunch at The Crown at Bray, good food and cheaper!

Stayed here one night for trip to Fat Duck in nearby Bray. Fantastic victorian gothic pile by the river - location for many a Hammer film. Only let-down was breakfast which was uninspiring - lukewarm sausages, baked beans and fried egg - bacon that looked like it had been steamed rather than fried (why do hotels do this - don't they have frying pans?). Overall though would definitely go back
